Excellent advice ther Baddcr… Exactly the reason why I wanted to post this up… The more we share good practice when purchasing second hand, the less likely it is that people will get ripped off.

Seriously folks, I’m humbled by all of the support that you lot have shown, it really has meant a great deal and hugely helped to restore the damage done by this…

I also had a blood rush when I saw the AR for 1100 euro … He (the alledged money taking scum head) replied to me it was sold … we all know now the end of that story …

1 )please ask the Elektronauts Forum officials to supply you with the IP address and additional info from the registered user in question.

Since the alledged crime took place in Germany, I could think of you being able to get a ball rolling inside Germany (I know you can start a police investigation via Email) … German officials might actually be interested, or are already on his heels (fingers crossed) … police will definetly be interested in his account number and name … no step towards solving this is futile!
please post the images (you were shown) here in the forum … get some info on how google image search works … once a scammer used pics, and you do the google image search using exactly those pics, other users may get directed to THIS very thread, to learn that the exact pictures have been used already AND are used by scammers (no risk involved for future buyers / scammers IIRC imho )
coming out here shows balls and will help others to not make the same mistakes ( I am amazed by how many chimed in and said they had also been scammed)
elektronauts: we have a unspoken rule that you have to post a pic when offering a sale … how bout we delete them threads where there are none? I for my part feel like I am too noobish, but we SHOULD make this a common practice, shouldnt we?

I have to admit, how weird that the person would say it was ‘sold’ if he could just scam multiple people then.
Certainly hope the IP can reveal some info about the scammer, and also that if it was transferred to a German bank, that they/the police would exercise some responsible action against this person.

Try contacting the banks involved also. Let them know it was a fraudulent deal. They may cover your damages/loss.

My heart is with you and I can well empathise with your situation (I’ve been scammed before and it sucks).

At the same time, my heart is also warmed by the kindness of the elektronauts community, evident in the responses so far.

If the receipt isn’t just printed then it looks like it was sent to someone in Australia. Hope the banks/police track him down, persevere with it

The receipt in the 2nd image is from Awave, a pro audio store based in Melbourne, Australia.

My guess is that Awave probably wouldnt have sold more than 10 Rytm’s
I would say the net is closing in.

Unless of course the pics were stolen in the first place.

EDIT-According to the receipt, It was sold by Awave to a guy in Victoria, Australia
Postcode 3163, maybe 3183.
I thought the pics might be stolen but like Baddcr I searched them and could only come up with the same ad from Audiofanzine,France and Elektronauts.
They don’t seem to appear anywhere else.

All the photos show is that someone with that name had a RYTM.

He may have been the original owner of a RYTM that was bought by the scammer. Or, just as likely, the photo was just downloaded to be used by the scammer - with no connection to the Mr McDonald at all.

Posting the photos is useful because now they are linked to this thread and if they are used in a future scam attempt, a reverse google image search will ring alarm bells.

When asking for photos as proof during a transaction, ask for the seller to include a handwritten note in the shot - with the date or some other detail that you request.

On that French forum…he’s selling other high value bits, 2 are stated as located in Germany, two Denmark…

I wonder if the moderators on that forum could find the ip address???

Still waiting to hear from Jon or any other moderators that could potentially find that for me.
