"Best selling" gear (according to various shops)

I find it interesting to sort various online shops by “Best Selling” or “Most popular” - most seem to return results that surprise me (to the point of wondering if the results are wrong).

Recently I came across:

which shows the $30 TAKAAB 2lpg V2 low pass gate as the best seller in the " Pro Audio Synthesisers & Sound Modules" category, followed by the $2500 Arturia Polybrute.

In the past I’ve noticed Sweetwater’s “Best selling gear” seemed to mysteriously coincide with what I had previously browsed on their site.

Yes, I just happened to be looking for a 2hp low pass gate when I came across the rankings above. I can see it - a $30 dual semi-filter is a nice buy. However I don’t see enough people buying it consistently to keep it there. Not to mention that very expensive polybrute being number 2. Perfect Circuit and Juno also seem to have results that I question - not in a nefarious way but in an “oh, we didn’t know anyone actually uses the sorting” way.
