I’m a sucker for “best of” lists and my playlists are getting stale. Hope this post will kick off a nice thread of new music for all of us to share and discover.
My pick is Mk.gee’s “Two Star & The Dream Police”. One of the best guitar albums I’ve ever heard. This kid gives me hope
Cheers to all of you crazy Elektronauts making one little piece of the internet a nice place to spend some time
probably my fav album form this year (they keep changing it, I’ve never heard this version of 7. I guess you gotta use Spotify to listen to all of it.)
Love scouring these lists. Tia to everyone in advance!

For me, it was Kiasmos album. I said it a few more times that this album has been looping for a looooong time now. When I got my SoundCloud 2024 summary, I wasn’t surprised. Every single track is perfect not just musically but also technically. I listen to it as a lecture over and over again, study what’s going on.
I can’t link playlists here but you can follow from here:

empathogen - WILLOW
If I had to pick one….I think it would have to be Knocked Loose. It’s one of the most refreshing and invigorating metal albums I’ve heard for a long time and FUCK ME does it go HEAVY!
Props to WILLOW for the album I sort of wanted to hate (I do NOT like Will Smith and it’s hard to ignore the nepo) but it’s an incredible album backed by super-tight performances from the band (she has Mohini Dey as her bass player for fucks sake!)
And props to Big Special for a deeply soulful and beautiful punk album, saturated in English Midlands anxiety and post-industrial ferocity. So fucking good!
definitely Prana — Sense Of Unity
their previous album was released in 1997, and the new one is still good old goa trance.
it does not even sound overproduced (i don’t like new school goa much because it typically does).
As I get older, I find that I’m terrible when it comes to keeping up with the latest music. Most of the newer stuff I’m listening to now on repeat is from 2023. So it probably won’t be until next year until I find my favorties for 2024 (though I’m confident the new Mogwai album will be an early favorite for 2025).
I like to think of these as favorites more than “best of”, so maybe I’m cheating a little. This is what i’m listening most right now:
