Best live setup with OT master sequencer

Hi,
i use my OT as a master sequencer and control my synths from it. I was thinking to keep this setup for my next live but i’m confused about the BEST way to organise my live setup…

My setup is hooked as follow:
OT master sequencer -> Nord G2 -> Nord MicroModular -> Jomox AirBase99 -> FS1R

As far I know it is not possible to link ProgramChange messages to a pattern but only to Parts and Banks… So should i use one Bank per song?
How can i make smooth transition form one song to the other?
How can i link Mutes to patterns?

Thank you in advance,
Best!!!

Hi!

There is plenty of ways to do things in the OT as you know… the way I use the OT in my Live sets is pretty similar to yours, I use it with a Nord micromodular, Gameboys, TR505 circuit bent and other random MIDI instruments…

Basically if you want to do program changes you have to use parts… You have 4 parts in a bank so you can have up to 4 different program changes within one bank, so either you coud do 4 tracks per bank, or change 4 patches within one track…

To make smooth transition betwen tracks, there are different approaches…
If you use let say just 4 tracks in a song you could use the crossfader to control the volumes of individual tracks, assign to scene A tracks 1-4, scene B tracks 5-8, so you have a song on each side of the crossfacer… If you do like a DJ set this is a very nice way to do things, plus using sliced samples…

Another way that I used before is, I prepare a special pattern at the end of each song which contains information of the track sounding and the following… this way I can play around as long as I want with the mix, then switch to next pattern or bank to go to the next song.

Regarding “link mutes per pattern” the only way to do this is by using the Arrangement… The arrangement is a pretty awsome feature in the OT, which lets you do many cool things like link tempo BPM, Parts, Scneces, Mutes… and have them automated for Live situations, very usefull stuff for complex sets.

I hope this info is usefull for you!!
Have fun!
