Morphing is something different yes your right.

Depends how much live / performance work is going on while you do your set.

Otherwise just use traktor and a cheap dj controller … everything else might as well be loops.

Probably octatrack …

Octatrack, especially for the blending/mixing factor, or the MC-707 with a clever pattern design along different tracks and use of faders/knobs.

On the 707 you have more hands-on approach on live sets, where the Octa needs to be played more through its menus.

With the 707 you also have the advantage of loads of good sounds already in the machine and a more synth-like playability.

The Octa could be super fun with its scenes/fader, but needs more preparation to extract the best of its workflow.

My only previous solo music experience is as a DJ so I always like the two sources plus a mixer thing like @Suspect_Frequency described. In fact two Blackboxes would be a brilliant way to git 'er done.

My last live set was Blackbox and Syntakt with Octatrack as ‘mixer’ and effects and RMX-1000 for more effects.

If I was limited to one device with which to perform a set I’d probably try the Octatrack. I no longer have a Polyend Tracker but it seems like it’d be capable. I did a pretty decent 30 minute set with one no problem.

Yeah it’s actually both dead simple and flexible. You can make it as interactive as you want-just play tracks and change the sequences, or get a bit more complicated and do some live stuff.

And still worthy of discussing.

So what would your choice(s) be?

Octatrack for audio transitions.

E-Mu Command Station (for example XL-7) for MIDI sequencing transitions.

all alone…or combined with whatever else u then wanna just add to it, if sample content treatment in all possible ways is not enough to twiddle for ur personal defenition of live electronics at once…

Octatrack is a safe pair of hands here, but in the interests of variety and in the same financial ballpark I’m going to make a case for the Force. You’ve got disk streaming, the crossfader, the arranger timeline, the clip matrix, a wide selection of FX and FX configurations, performance FX and mixing on the touchscreen, and flexible macros on eight knobs and 64 pads. It’s more than you need for an hour - that time limit is where the more focused Octatrack interface and setup is likely to come into its own - but the Force opens up a number of additional avenues.

It’s not as ‘special’ as the Octatrack - when you’re performing, you won’t look like you’ve been send back from the future - but it’s more than capable, offers a few more performance options and might reduce the need for external gear. But mainly, it’s an alternative, and they’re useful to have even if you don’t use them.

I don’t think the Rytm has been mentioned either, and I’m sure that could deliver an interesting 1hr set.
