Best AR Deals

Be careful when ordering from outside EU. If the package gets stopped at customs you will probably have to pay for your country’s VAT and customs handling.

@crazymilk.

Like it has been said, unless you can have someone there send it as a “gift” or “non commercial”, customs will tax it if they catch it.

@d2ba

That’s a good point. I lack all patience when it comes to new toys (i ruined many a Christmases as a child :)). But the direct us price is still far cheaper than euro. You’re positive they take better care of their direct customers than retailers?

I wonder on these preorders if they charge you straight away - otherwise the price maybe very different in 9 months or so when they’ll realistically start shipping.

It makes no sense at all - so sick of getting shafted down here. [/quote]
Europeans are getting shafted the most. 1999AUD is 1350euro. The AR retails for 1489euro in europe. With this promotion, US people pay 500 euro less, that’s sick!
I’ve looked it up, here in holland you will get charged € 268,18 by the customs

This thread is funny and it smells…

I come from a scandinavian country and we pay a lot of VAT/TAX, that all goes to the wellfare so we don´t have to pay to go to the hospital when we are sick.
In the US they pay less VAT/TAX but pay a lot to go to the hospital.

And don’t forget, they have to live there, we don’t!

And our public education system, for such a “wealthy” country, is an unmitigated disaster.

Either way we’re talking about avoiding tax, not hurting elektron, right? Or do i have that wrong?

Don’t mean to get too philosophical here but it’s a market economy and we as consumers are gonna loose every single time. It’s the way the systems built.
I’m sure elektron hate this as well and would prefer all their customers to get rytm for the exact same comparable cost.
So getting the best deal you can is perfectly reasonable given the rules imposed upon us - if we where a corporation by law we would be compelled to do it as it would be in the best interest of the shareholders.
Get the best deal you can - that’s all… :rage:

Smells like teen spirit

JRR not having Elektron product in stock is not JRR’s fault whatsoever. Elektron has everyone waiting for product right now. I know Sweetwater and a few others got a small shipment of the AKs, but they all appear to be sold out as well. Maybe somebody can confirm that they bought an AK directly from Elektron in the last couple days that has already shipped, but distributors aren’t distributing because Elektron hasn’t distributed anything to them yet.

Elektron may prefer direct sales, but some of us may want things like a return policy (without shipping back to Sweden) or to save a little money if possible, and while they may prefer to sell direct, they work with distributors to maximize sales.

That’d be nice. Anyone?

I did a pre-order on this from JRR, even though I wasn’t planning on buying a RYTM until next year…luckily it looks so similar to my A4, that it will fly in under the radar at home :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: thank you Elektron for keeping a uniform style on the new boxes!

Thank you for sharing about us! We’ve been asked to remove coupon codes from Elektron gear but we’ll take care of anyone if you contact us directly.

Just made my preorder through them. This will be my first elektron box. I’m excited.

LOL Poonti, i know what you mean, I get scared when my wife has to run down to the basement past my workbench for something. the new studio monitors were just too hard to hide.
This is some bullshit that Elektron won’t give no solid answers on when you can buy any of their shit. after getting the “any day now” spill from GC or whoever you order from for the past month you got to start thinking “I’m not begging them to take MY money” I would suggest buying a Tempest! I just did and its a monster! Or buy your Elektron used. their warranties are transferable. I bought my A4 used from BH Photovideo for $842 and had no issues with it other than no manual (which would have been out of date anyway). I ordered and paid for an Octatrack a month ago from GC and was told “oh yea, we’re pretty sure we will have them in stock and shipping by April 7” I knew better than that BS line and kept my eyes open for a clean used one or something like. a little over a week ago a blemished one popped up on GC and i snatched it quickly. A brand new un used unit and the only blemish i could tell was what looks like a swedish man’s eyelash, or nose hair under the bottom right hand corner of the LCD screen cover. hardly noticeable. As far as warranty, its treated as a new unit. i feel pretty lucky that i was able to snap it up in this Elektron drought. What kind of chaps my ass though is how Elektron posts all these facebook status’s with all this elektron gear that you can’t even get your hands on. and when you try to ask them where is the shit you paid for, you get ignored. then they have the nerve to post a facebook update of the guy showing off the OktaKontrol module, playing it with the OT. So let me get this right, you want me to buy an OktaKontrol and play it with my imagionary Octatrack that you can’t restock or give me an answer as to when it will be available? If I was one of you all who have been waiting and waiting and asking and getting no straight answer, I would say screw em and buy some other shit.

Can’t buy an Octakontrol right no either.
They are out, have a waiting list, and last time I checked they had no ETA.

I do understand the frustration but it’s not like they are doing it on purpose.
I’m sure that they want to sell as many units as possible on any given day.
My assumption would be that they are doing just that: producing as many of everything as possible, no more and no less.

Are they supposed to stop advertising their product, or stop making new inventive devices while they only produce the products that they are currently selling?

Is research and development the same as manufacturing and shipment ? Are they even in the same building and can the R and D team stop what they are doing and go screw face plates on Octatracks?

Let’s say they build two times the production center so they can produce more but at a cost to R and D. Would that make sense?
Then they could supply every Octatrack anyone ever wanted and… ?

It’s a balance isn’t it?
To me it seems like they are going to be damned by someone on an Internet forum no matter what they do.

It’s like me looking at her shoe collection…I have no clue…I’m not worried!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

but distributors aren’t distributing because Elektron hasn’t distributed anything to them yet.

Ok first point:
all distributors get stock on credit from manufacturer so Elektron don’t get all the funds up front --we don’t know the percentage of payment Elektroon get in adavance
–thats the way the musical instrument business works

–generally the distributor buys for 33.3% less than street price
so in AR case’s the distributor buys each unit for USD$1000 plus shipping
Thats why JRR Shop can give a discount code out–in our case $225 discount on street price of $1499
they are still making $274 on deal less shipping on each unit–maybe $24 shipping per unit as they buy a few at a time
So their profit is around $250 on the deal with the discount code
no discount code and their profit is a huge $475 on street price of $1499

2nd point
A direct order is ideal for a small company like Elektron -they get paid up front and have more funds to play with as they get the full $1499 per unit instead of $1000 selling to a distributor --so support these these guys
Thats why Elektron are fulfilling direct orders first.!!!
The direct orders are the first cab off the rank !!!

3rd point
If you are that worried about tax’s and duties you can register as a business and claim it back from Customs
In fact all semi-professionals should do that
