Ive got an SH101, and matey in the video is right. Legit complaints, for things that should work like an SH101 but dont. Shame about the transpose switch, thats like how you play and SH101 man, you do cool octave switches with your left hand, and it works even when a note is held down. Cool as fuck.
Personally Id say they are deal breakers. I would have sent it back to the shop too.
As for the filter, fuck man, it depends how its calibrated, and tuned. My SH101 wont sound like another one, because Ive had it apart and fiddled with it. Having said that, the filter res on mine tracks V/o properly. Unlike this MS1 mk2.
the things he’s complaining about are certainly not that. especially the glide and transpose. I mean, the glide basically does nothing. that’s simply not correct.
I’ve had exactly the opposite experience. unless the synth is polyphonic and/or the keyboard is under heavy digital control.
it’s almost like they ruined the pure beauty and fun of the SH-101 by adding the extra sequencer bits.
I probably repeat myself but I view the various “not-quiet-right” clones as a way to enter an alternative universe where I can enjoy a slightly different version of something I love. I prefer my original sh101 yet I get enjoyment from the behringer clone as well.
That demo was bloody awful for showcasing any of the 101-ness, especial in the latter half where they dial in the FM which the SH-101 never had of course.
I’ve got the inferior Mk1 and it does sound like a SH-101, that holllowness to pulsewave, the rubbery envelopes, and that wonderful filter.
It sounds as much like the OG 101 as the S-1 does (which is essentially the SH-01A with worse controls)
I can’t believe the Mk2 sounds less like an original 101, I mean its Behringer so it’s possible - but don’t write it off over one really poor video
