I dont know (dont have an LMdrum… yet), they do look about the same size tho

Behringer LM Drum Firmware V1.1.7 Update

We’ve heard your feedback and are thrilled to share firmware version V1.1.7 for the Behringer LM Drum! This update brings exciting new features, performance enhancements, and key bug fixes to elevate your experience.

Download the new SYNTHTRIBE V2.9.2 to update from the LM DRUM page. Only use this version, please:

https://www.behringer.com/behringer/product…

Improvements:

Quick Tune Reset – Press TAP + Encoder while on the TUNE icon to instantly set the tune value to 0.

AUTO SAVE Behaviour Update – Auto Save ON/OFF now applies only to pattern and song data. All other settings are automatically saved by default.

Enhanced Menu Functionality – Pad recording is now allowed while in MENU mode.

Bug Fixes:

Screen & LED Brightness – The brightness of the screen and LEDs is now auto-saved.

Velocity Sensitivity Fix – Resolved an issue where PAD velocity affected the sample playback start point, even when the VELO-SENSE PAD option was disabled (e.g., the cowbell start point no longer varies with velocity).

Update now and take your LM Drum to the next level. Thank you for your continued support!

For Mac users: Apple officially supports the three most recent versions of macOS: macOS 13 Ventura, macOS 14 Sonoma, and OS 15 Sequoia. We follow Apple in support.

For Windows OS 10 & 11 are supported.

anyone found a good dust cover / decksaver for their LM drum?
does the Decksaver Behringer RD-9 fit?

Could I get a primer what the pros are compared to a used digitakt 1?

Firstly the Digitakt is a more advanced device that will do a lot more than the LM much like any other modern sampler/sequencer combo

I guess the main differences are the analogue side of the voice circuitry, the hands on control with dedicated pots/sliders etc and individual outs. I don’t think it’s a fair comparison to put it up against a DT (or any other modern device like that). It is what it is, a take on a vintage device with many of its quirks/shortcomings (by today’s standards). It won’t be for everyone and I wouldn’t recommend it as your only sampling drum machine, especially if you’re coming from the advanced sequencing capabilities of the Elektron world but it has got a certain something about it IMO.

Ok thought as much. It’s the prize that’s tripping me up for the Behringer.
More outs and physical controls but also inherently more lo-fi (12 bit?) and way less capable.

If it would be say 250 I would get it but as it is I can only see it as a secondary for some.
(Used digitakts start at 500€ here and go down to 350€, if you can wait a bit)

That means I can ignore the lmdrum now.

(Btw does anybody know of a sampler that can multi sample drum hits and play them according to the velocity or round robin/random? I know I could switch the sample in the digitakt per step, but programming that would be a pain when I want an organic feel during jamming)

Don’t know if I understood you correctly. But on Digitakt (OG as well as II), you can do the following: record a sample chain with several drum hits, set the track to grid machine, play the different slices with the keyboard or set a random LFO destination “slice” and trig mode, so that with each hit, a random slice will be selected.

Oh, that slice mode sounds actually “good enough”… So having 5 slightly different snare hits in 1 sample, setting the slices, and using the LFO) I can have a more organic feel. Nice.

(Sadly that would use up one of the 2 lfos, but seems like a solid option for this case… Curious if move can do something comparable)

But I think with that I’m in the wrong topic now. Have fun with the lmdrum

More off topic on DT slice grid

Better make it 4, 8 or 16 snares that are recorded at predictable intervals. DT slice grid only works if the sample is 16/32/64/128 steps long and the slices are triggered at steps 1/9 when being recorded/prepared. You’ll figure that out easily though once you have a DT. It opened up DT and slicing for me and works excellent for drums.

You could lock in different snares on different steps.

And that would be really tedious from a workflow perspective to me + sound mechanical cause on a loop it would play the same snares variant at the same point, kinda missing the reason why I want this to begin with. (Tried doing that to some degree with the model cycles (blocking the sound to the step) and did not like the multiple steps to search for it while creating patterns and jamming.

Maybe use multiple patterns in your composition. Sometimes these things require a little effort.

There is a very good and extensive test done on the LM Drum with the improved firmware in Amazona :

This includes a large collection of sounds, detailed review, and some commentary. This goes along with and adds to their review done earlier.

incoming mk2 in <1 year :joy:

Hi! new at the LM drum.
2 questions:

  1. is recording a sample into the LM drum via the audio in ‘better/grittier’ than just oploading the samples over usb?
  2. what does everyone use as dust cover/protection for the LM drum?

thanks!
Oscar

You’ll defgo get a grittier sound if you push the input into distortion if you record into the LM drum.

The effect sampling has on the sound was demonstrated in the first few videos Behringer released about the product IIRC

Just a quick question:
What would LMD bring to the table when owning say, the MPC X?
Thnks!

Some analogue circuitry. Native 12-bit sampling and sample playback. More conventional, drum machine style sequencer interface.

Not much else really. MPC X already does a lot.

Oh, and LMDrum also has more individual outputs for the voices than MPC X, so if you wanted to process each voice individually through an external mixer then there’s that as well.
