Behringer LMDrum (Linndrum)

I imagine they’re making it a sampler that comes with with preloaded wavs designed to mock or approximate the originals. It’s funny, if you don’t have the rights to the sounds that defined the machine, at that point why not just make a hybrid modernized 8/12 bit sampler with an original design? Could’ve been cool, but now we’re probably just ending up with a sampler dressed up with a LinnDrum skin like some kind of novelty item.

They straight up ripped icons and fonts (and layout) we made for Digitakt. What the hell.

exactly. I’d love a Digitakt with 8 and 12 bit depth sampling. an Isla made by Elektron, or with a similar mojo to it. why just keep pandering to the vintage crowd with the look and feel? this beast with half of the faceplate dedicated to volume and panning of samples is ridiculous. and the idea seems quite neutered with what’s possible. sure it’s great to recognize there’s a desire for the lower resolution, grittier sampling sound. but build something cool with that, don’t just use this very basic box in order to keep the vintage vibe going.

Has to be a provocation to generate talk

Big bad B does know how to generate chatter. All publicity is good publicity?

Those graphics and icons , I hope are Intellectual property that Elektron can act on.

I just imagine Uli making Woody the Woodpecker sounds running and scavaging from various companies

Yeah precisely. Apart from the Isla SP-2400, we have yet to see a groovebox that fully explores the character of old school samplers, whether its sample rate/bit depth, the sound of older DACs, digital samples through analog filters etc. Some machines have flirted with it (like the aforementioned as well as the Analog Rytm, Volca Sample, and DoubleDrummer) but I want my Digitakt-meets-ASR10 or Deluge-meets-Emulator III, dammit! :joy:

I just bought my first non-Behringer instrument in years (MC-707) but if this really is a Digitakt-meets-Linndrum, they are pulling me back in. I imagine they’ll change the UI for the production version a bit though

Yeah, I think it’s this, they’ll probably change it for release. In the meantime they got their forum chatter.

Behringer is to synths what Ryanair is to air travel in many ways.

They are more and more applying the Ryanair model for free PR with ridiculous claims and spreading rumors/trolling.

yeah the closest for a while was the Jomox 888 and 999, which were 8 bit I think. and you could load in your own samples, but it was a chore. and you couldn’t do anywhere near as much with them as you could in a Digitakt. but probably about as much as you can with this thing. at least it has usb and can sample directly (I guess) though…?

Bindrum… will it end up in the bin?

I would estimate most B products will before a LinnDrum ever does. if only because they’re less repairable and less worthwhile to do so, versus just buying another one.

Theres gotta be some vegas line bet or draftkings board to place wagers what the next Bclone will be.
Waiting for their Xone96 clone or possibly a Roland Space Echo
BRM midi clock anyone?

Check out Aly James VPROM for your Linn sounds, it’s great. Pair it with any Elektron through MIDI and you got all the Linn you could want.

i certainly like BLinn Drum (blin means pancake in many slavic languages :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )
it’s obvious that what we’ve seen yesterday is either a prototype or mockup, but wow.
