Beginner question: can't exit mute mode

Hi, I’m new to the model:cycles, it’s been a great device so far, but I got stuck a couple of times with this problem:

After FUNC+Long press settings, I can save the project. Strangely, the device goes into some kind of permanent “mute mode” after saving.

The six tracks only function as Mute buttons now. I can switch a track on or off (without pressing FUNC), but I can’t do anything else. Pressing exit, FUNC, or settings has no effect. I have to switch the device OFF to get back to a normal state.

Am I missing something here? How do I exit this Mute mode?

It’s certainly a quirk of the model:cycles … all the track pads light up. I find on the M:C that hitting FUNC on its own clears the 6 lights and returns all to normal.
