Especially these days where companies build entire profiles around users based on some impressive subtleties in how you move around online.

Anonymising data is famously difficult because of how it can be cross-correlated - which is also why you should be vary weary when governments and companies talk about sharing your data in such a way. It doesn’t take much to combine two pieces of anon data to ID someone.

I find it alarming how easily people submit to mechanisms which exert control over them, without so much as a second thought.

But these things are always faded in, a good example is cell phones - started off as a means of mobile communication, now they are much more than that, incremental features added, cameras, navigation, email, social media, payments, health, etc - all for convenience of the user. Oh, thats ok then.

Surely the only way (from this moment forward at least) is to never use the internet and to get rid of all internet connected devices. And probably move somewhere extremely remote and don’t talk to anyone else connected to the internet.
