Hey there,
I was trying to make something similar to a beat repeat/stutter fx which can affect all the track of the DT. I know that retriggering singular steps works in a similar way but it is not so easy when live performing.
Do you have any advice for this or even an external gear/pedal to pair up with DT?
Not a beat repeat as such and by nature a little random. Lock the regular notes in your pattern to 100% then add some ratchets of varying resolution at different pitches, sample rate or whatever. Turn the probability down to zero then turn it up when you want some glitches. Pretty interesting to experiment with subtle probability settings. Can be done with fill as well.
With fill I think it’s handy to use a whole track for your stutter fx and change that track to fill and set all other tracks to not fill.
Setting lfo to tune or sample slot is pretty cool too with random lfo and hold or exponential mode.
If you don’t want to pre program things then you probably need external box.
Route it through tr8 scatter fx
Route it through iPad as fx unit and many iOS apps
Route through Roland aira fx scatter module
Korg kp3 / kp3 + / kaos pad mini
Go modular
Go octatrack
For shutter effect, i put once, with a sample long as 32 steps, gost trigs (shift +trig) with fill conditions.
It works well, but the sample must be long.
Which module might be best for this kind of effect? As long as now i tried Phonogene and the Kammerl firmware for Clouds but it didn’t worked very well as I thought.
If you are using song mode, you can easily add rows with shortened length for stutter and repeats without changing the original pattern. Just keep in mind start positions.
