Beat chopping techniques for SP1200

Hey team,

For the SP users out there, do you guys always chop beats in the SP itself or feed it single shots chopped up properly in a DAW?

I know part of the magic is doing it in the machine but sometimes I struggle to get the right mojo… I feel single shot samples need to have some “air” to breath before/after to make the beat composition gel/swing.

How do you guys sample and chop?

I’ve also used the double tempo, swing at 67% but find its easier to just do straight no swing with 1/16T instead.

Cheers team :v: :star_struck:

at a higher pitch than needed :relaxed:

haha yes…

I have the OG and Rossum (I was from 1st batch). They sound identical but the workflow is so much faster when it comes to saving/recall on the Rossum because of the SD card… also the filter sliders on the back dramatically change the feel of the beat on the fly…

You will not be disappointed.

I sold my sp1200, but to chop a sample you can do this:

-Record a sample in pad A for example, and then copy that one on pad b.

-After that, save the project, turn off and turn on the SP.

-Doing that the SP will store the sample indepently in the two pads. Truncate the sample in bank b and repeat the process how many times you need

love seeing that AE OT tucked away in the background, another sampler addict like me :sunglasses:
