Awesome idea - not willing to put myself out there just yet but following with interest
Ah, alas, didnāt realize this was going to be in July. Sorry, i have to back out as I have some commitments for the first half
Sounds great! Looking forward to itā¦ Iāve a wee question though. So, if the starting point is each person creates an element each, and then each team creates a part to start that uses each of those elements, and then each part is combined. I guess at that point itās down to each team to figure out how to combine the parts and how they want to expand it from there. Will there be an opportunity for each team to agree a common tempo and key/scale for the elements weāre all creating?
Was just about to ask the same question
I donāt use software, but this sounds like a job for melodyne and timestrech
Or just layer jup on dissonance and non integer polyrythms
Chromatic free time
Great question. There was a bit of back and forth, so let me clarify.
The element can be a sample. Or a one shot.
It just has to be something. It can be a soft synth preset. It a sound bite.
Post it in the main thread.
Then teams announced. And from there, itās up to the teams to approach this any way they see fit. One song with shared key and tempo.
Or individual parts that are stitched. Or a mixture of both.
And after a couple weeks, Iām going to ask if you WANT to show a preview. For the folks on the sidelines to see how itās going.
So you can flex, or keep it quiet.
But thatās the step after teams are formed.
After that. Around July 1st, when
Damn, I love Exquisite Corpse visually, audibly sounds so very fun.
Did you see Melodyne just had an upgrade sale?
I just upgraded to Melodyne Studio.
Havenāt had the opportunity to use it yet
No problem! I may keep the registration open until the first just in case.
And I may have to change to three person teams.
Ok I get it now, thanks for steering this ship of fools
3 person teams would be great actually.

Iām going to reopen registration until the 1st.
It may make the teams not even if an odd number can join.
We can see how it looks on the 1st.
I donāt have a computer, and have never used software like that, but it sounds interesting to have elastic audio or retune note by note.
So far itās either been make non-compatible samples work together through brute force or giving up
Should I keep it closed and go 15, or open it up but there might be weird team if the people arenāt even.
Iām okay with that.
Technically, you only need to add it once, so you donāt have to worry if it doesnāt fit.
You can just show it and move on, or really use as much as you want.
Hereās an idea I was kicking around.
I kind of think of this like the Rhythm Roulette series.
- People on a team upload/contribute sounds, beats, stems, samples whatever.
- Each team member makes a rough version using those materials. Nothing too polished.
- Then the team chooses what to move forward with.
- Whoeverās sketch is chosen hands off the sketch as stems to another team member.
- That team member remixes it then hands it off to the other team member.
- That person remixes it.
- The team decides who is up for finalizing the track. Or everyone does, and then they choose which one they want to submit as final.
I say do whatever.
I wouldnāt mind keeping it open a bit longer.
We have through July correct?
Some people dont log on as much as other so we might get more people trickling in
One benefit to smaller teams, or to letting more people sign up is that we would get to hear more music
