Batch Processor for Sample Tuning?

I use (or would like to use more) sample libraries with nice fat chords and pads to combine with my existing sounds. When using one-shot sample libraries for chord sounds, their tuning is spread over all notes, for whatever reason. However, I want all sounds to use C as base note, because I will be playing them live on aa keybooard and be jumping almost arbitrarily through sounds, so the basee note nneeds to be standardized. The base note is typically contained in the filename. Retuning one sample at a time is pretty straight-forward: just tune some semitones up or done depending on what the file name says about the base note.

Do you know a program that automates this process? I’m aware of the ‘auto tune’ feature in the great sample editor of renoise, works great foor monophonic tones, but gets confused by chords. That’s why I’m looking for a small tool that interprets the file name…

Don’t know of any programs to automate but you could get through a fair few pretty quickly using a spectrum analyser and daw.

Using an analyser will let you re-pitch the sample actuarially and swiftly, Abletons analyser is nice…

I remember a program called MixedInKey, load songs in and it give key info, maybe it would work with short samples, dont know…

If ya find something easier, please share…

That’s a good idea where the base tune is unclear. Chord samples from official sample libraries, however, usually store the base note in the file name. Just the auto tune tool in renoise gets confused because it tries to find out the base note by itself, instead of just reading the file name…

Adobe Audition might be an option to be able to do this. I think it can re-pitch audio into a certain pitch, not sure if it’s relative to the key of the original sample (±3pitch, etc.) or absolute, as in it would pitch anything to the key you set.

…And it has batch processing.

Thanks for the suggestion. If Adobe Audition just weren’t that expensive and overkill for my need.

I just need a small tool for one specific job. Read the file name and pitch up/down accordingly…
