On page 59 of the manual it says that each bank contains 4 parts and 16 patterns. I’m editing samples in a part in a bank and it’s changing the samples in a part in another bank.
This makes no sense to me because the parts should be separate since they are in different banks, correct?
If the samples are in the same audio pool in the same set then there’s only 1 sample. Parts control which sample is played by what type of machine (and the machine settings).
Editing a sample without making a copy first (or saving as a new sample) will affect everything else in that set that uses that sample.
I’m finding if I create a pattern with some samples, then switch to a new bank, and create a new pattern. If I set static 5 (for example) on track 5 to a new sample, it sets the static 5 on the original pattern too.
I’m seeing something odd when looking at the samples, when I have them selected (mouse over) they show a different sample. Is this related?
EDIT:
If I’m editing a pattern, then switch to a new bank + pattern, all the tracks have samples preassigned. To me that behaviour seems like you only get four parts for all banks.
If I understand you, what you are missing is that the sample lists for static and flex machines is shared by all banks. If you change the sample in slot 4 of the flex sample list, that change will happen for all banks.
Take a look at page 9 of the manual. The sample slots are based on what project you have loaded. Those sample slots (static & flex) will be the same over all banks and patterns. That is until you change projects.
I think you’re missunderstanding parts also. In a broad sense I look at parts as simply a preset or a patch for the setup of my 8 tracks.
