Bandcamp Listening Parties

Has anyone got experience of Bandcamp listening parties as a fan/artist?

It’s a recent introduction and appears the album streams in full and allows for realtime chat/discussion, but I’ve not experienced it first hand and have accepted a listening party this Friday.

Seems like an interesting proposition, but have no idea what to expect?

What’s has your experience been? And wondering what could make it better for fans?

Edit: for clarity I am the artist and it’s my album being released.

I went to a really nice one a few weeks ago for the Annie Hart album launch and she was just hanging out chatting and answering questions and talking about what inspired certain songs etc. It was a super nice time. Sadly my own stuff seems to have a very small and niche audience that eventually sometimes listens to my releases over time so I doubt anyone would really turn up if I did one.

I really like the concept though, definitely a nice addition to BC.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like an ideal experience if your into an artist and they are into sharing details about an album or songwriting/process (not for everyone).

Not sure there will be a large number “fans” attending my listening party, but I’m going to go for it anyway!

…surely varies from time to time…but basically, it’s a GREAT IDEA…no doubt.
