Iām making improvised techno where the leads come from two voices in a modular system. The voices are loquelic iteritas percido and Basimilus iteritas alter. They both produce extremely rich globs of frequencies, and I bandpass both of them. In an improvised live setting this has a couple of benefits. Most importantly, whatever these insane synth voices might spit out I can place in the mix easily, without worrying about blowing the subwoofer or the audienceās ear drums. That gives the confidence to experiment and improvise freely. Another benefit is that used over very complex sounds, a BP filter sweep will feel like itās mutating and evolving sound rather than just taking off the edges. On other things I rarely use bandpass though
