Balanced output to unbalanced input?

A Noob question but want to be shure before i do anything…want to connect my Monomachine thru the inputs on my A4 …should i use balanced cables or unbalanced? Main Output from monomachine is balanced but the input on A4 is unbalanced? A bit of a headscratcher for me :joy:

I did some research on this awhile back, probably for the same reason ( I tend to plug other gear into the A4 for FX). The web seems to agree that using a balanced cable if you have a balanced out is the best option, even into an unbalanced input. I do it all the time and it works great.

I’d recommend Mogami 2534 cables if you don’t have any balanced TRS yet. Very high quality and can be had for a decent price (for high quality cables at least) off ebay.

Unbalanced will be totally fine.
Balanced is good for 100ft+ lengths - between these two devices on a desk you’ll be fine with any cheap cable you buy or make.

Thanks for the quick answers. Bought balanced cables a couple of days ago. So now off to my small setup and start connecting everything together

balanced out to balanced in = louder volume

balanced out to non balanced in = too much money spent on cables (I did it too)

unbalanced out to balanced in = try to find a balanced out :stuck_out_tongue:

If you make your own cables, this guide is indespensable:
