i just used TRANSFER for my backup.
the thing is:
i can save PROJECTS
i can save SOUNDS
but how about the PATTERNS ? like All patterns, their key-lock and parameters. Is this saved by saving the PROJECT ? The file is so small (less than 100ko) so i’m not sure what it saves…
Is there not a Sysex kind of way of saving everything, i’m a bit confused, and all the videos online talk about dumping from the PC to the digitone, but not the opposite !

Patterns are stored in projects. All project data, parameters, etc. represent settings. It’s a small file because what you’re saving just tells the knobs where they should be set, where the steps are placed and what all is parameter locked etc.
Unlike a sampler, where sounds are actual audio files, the sounds on a digitone are instead just collections of parameters that represent how the sounds are produced by the synth engine.
There’s not much substance there, it’s a data only save so there’s nothing to be concerned about.
