Hi there fellow Elektronauts! (I am so giddy to be apart of this amazing movement, it’s like hogwarts or something!)
I tend to always keep my laptop in my backpack and when I get the Octatrack I will for sure be carrying it with me too but the question is what backpack…
I’ve done pretty extensive research into the backpacks for when I had a huge 17" hexcore laptop and one of the larger backpacks I found was slappa, odyssey, UDG, mono and Nambagear
I found myself just thinking about this the other day; I’m trying to fit maybe a machinedrum, some pedals, cables, and 2 smaller tabletop synths in a bag where I don’t have to worry about the knobs of the machinedrum breaking off.
I don’t feel that there is really a good product for a small, lightweight setup, it seems most the backpacks are either just geared for laptops, or much larger bags like the one R7 posted. I’m actually kinda liking something like this for a smaller format: http://shop.herschelsupply.com/collections/backpacks/products/heritage-backpack-wild-dove-hemp , as far as the style but again its more geared for like a laptop and ipod type thing.
Maybe also look at camera backpack, as they’re built specifically to protect expensive gears. They often also have adjustable padded compartments inside the main compartment.
Examples include tamrac & lowepro…
You might also have better luck with the range of sizes - although I had a helluva time trying to find something to fit a rode blimp…
Ive got the Thomman producer back pack, it’s perfect for your needs and only £23! It’s just like the UDG bag but without the fancy label. I fit my octatrack and my Nord lead A1R inside and they stay nice and safe. Haven’t had it long so can’t comment on life span but it seems well built and at that price you could get a new one every 12 month anyway.
I have a UDG Mono fader (shoulder bag style) and can attest to it’s build quality. I carry 2 Octatracks inside and it handles the weight no problems at all. One of the slots is thinner, and will fit your laptop - and the other larger to fit an Octatrack. The slim slot is still large enough to get a second Octa inside.

Looks like it could do double duty, carrying your clubs and tees as well as your synths…
i use the PL2 and throw the Rytm or Octatrack into just about any bookbag. usually will put the combination in a plastic bag to be safe and keep any liquids/rain out. well worth it imo and you can justify the price by spending less on a bookbag.
I’ve carried my Octatrack in a regular ol’ backpack when I went to Milwaukee for last year’s workshop hosted by Allerian. I wrapped it in a towel before putting it in the backpack.
Generally though I transport it in a hard case that came with it. I got it and the case in a package deal, new, from an online shop.
