In true newbie fashion I just deleted a pattern and did not undo in time. No big deal but from now on I will be trying to back up patterns often and in an organized fashion.
I have an MD and OT also, so I’m keen to avoid losing work from 3 boxes.
Do I have this right?:
If I sysex back up the whole MM or MD machine, (songs, patterns, kits, the works)… and then I only want to restore one pattern from all that stuff, I cannot, because it was saved as ‘ALL’?
What do people reckon is the most organized way to back up patterns so they’re easily retrieved in times of minor calamity?
With the octatrack, the patterns are saved in the “bank.std/bank.work” files, right? Maybe I’m blind but I can’t see this in the manual.

I use the plus drive to my advantage by keeping a couple of previous versions of each active snap saved to different slots. That way if I screw something up royally I’ve got the data handy.
If you don’t have a plus drive, maybe just C6 back up each MD or MnM bank – choose PAT+KIT – as you fill them, or some similar approach that makes sense to you.

I like the plus drive idea, I’ll give it a go. The MM is mk2 UW+… but the MD is just UW (sps1).
