Backing Track Tempo Sync Question

I’m trying to write a bass line against a drum track a friend sent me. It’s 125, and I dragged it into a DAW to confirm that, trim the start and end, line it up to the beat markers and export a fresh WAV file at 48/24.
I assigned the file properties to 125 BPM, turned off stretch and set the OT to 125 BPM.
However it feels like it’s playing slower. When I try to line it up against the metronome, the beat pushes and pulls past sync.
Any hint here where I’m going wrong?

you should import into OT only 44100 Hz files (16/24 both are fine)

OT is trying to playback a 48000 Hz sample with 44100 rate …so this is why it sounds lower in pitch

Can i ask you why you are using 48k instead of 44.1k ?

Thanks, I bet you’re right. The original was 44,8 but I suppose it doesn’t matter since I’m just using it for reference.
