Auto Channel Q - DT2/DN2

I need someone to confirm something for me - I’m either over-thinking or missing something, so here I am.

I’m creating a neat little jam setup: Digitakt 2 + Digitone 2, DT2 is the master of ceremonies (clock, etc.), finally I’ll be using my KeyStep for notes. I’m a keyboard player, so having a keyboard is important to me.

With two Elektron units, my assumption is:

DT 2 auto-channel on 10

DN 2 auto-channel on 11

You wouldn’t want them both on the same auto-channel, correct? That would be chaos, with everyone responding to everything.

Only if you’re using a MIDI splitter from the keyboard to both devices at once.
