Arturia V Collection 8

They had a big sale in May.
I got V7 + OB-Xa V for $250 as an upgrade to some free minimoog classic I had in my account. I think without that it was $300. They were basically throwing in OB-XA V for free, and V Collection was half off.

So, if you can wait, wait.

I do really like OB-Xa V. Using my Pro 2 to control it, it has become my go-to poly synth. Does it sound really close to a real Oberheim? I don’t know, but it’s certainly usable and offers a good counterpoint to Repro-5. I get a lot of use out of the drop down modulators, so I am totally okay with it not being a super faithful reproduction.

Maybe with V9 we’ll finally get the option to roll/hide the keybed graphics!

I wonder if the NKS for the other new synths are included (i.e ready)?
The OB-Xa NKS was a couple months after its initial release.
It’s been out for a while now and they still haven’t updated their product page.

edit: found it:

  • NKS compatibility currently unavailable for Analog Lab V, Vocoder V, Emulator II V, Jun-6 V, Jup-8 V4 and Stage-73 V2

Thank you for saving my temptation towards temptation.

Where I want to want it, but ultimately I don’t. I have no use for these, but new potential is fun

Double Nope. (I am also at v. 6)
50-100€ is acceptable, from where I stand.

Yeah im only going to pay £100 for the upgrade 200 is too step considering ive been an owner of arturia equipment for maybe near 7 years now.

I would only be interested in Analog lab to use it as kind of rompler with my maschine/komplete kontrol setup. For those, a few macro controls are fine.
For deeper sound design I don’t need that many synths in full version

I don’t believe Analog Lab is usually made in NKS, as it is kind of a competitor to Komplete Kontrol.

With that gap in mind, Freelance Sound Labs has made available NKS for the previous Analog Lab 4 for around $10 USD

Hopefully they’ll do Analog Lab 5 as well, as the new macro controls are a nice edition.

I installed the JUN-6 V demo and a synth like the Juno 6/106 definitely benefits from the new Macro control. The ability to adjust the curves for each parameter within a macro is quite nice. You can really make some sweet spots with it and a good controller.

Just to follow up on my previous comments on price and it seems that Arturia have changed their upgrade pricing structure around this time. It seems that your upgrades are much more dependent on what you already have by them (no idea what the formula is) and having sold their various effects I have, I’m left VCollection 6 and Pigments. So, it’s 300€ for me to update… I guess that still is reasonable value for what amounts to 7 new synths and 3 or 4 decent updates to existing. Ultimately, I got the latest Komplete this year so I’m in no rush to upgrade… will wait and see what happens in next years sales.

As an aside though, was it just me that thought that all the launch videos from ā€˜influencers’ on youtube were pretty terrible? Pretty much every one just made one or two comments about each synth by way of background, mashed a couple of presets and moved onto the next synth… contrast that to a hardware release and Loopop getting atomic in his breakdown…

Emulator II V!! wowzers…downloading demo now.
Still waiting for the Jupiter 6 to be vst’ed, but i’m stoked that the jup8 has been updated and there is a new juno clone!!. Will be interesting to compare with the roland vstis - which are very close to the originals.

can anyone say something about how cpu light or heavy the synths are?

Ā£200 is too much and I am disappointed that the Jupiter update is not available for free for V collection users.

199 is too steep for me (from v7) will probably upgrade next year.

Anyone checked if they have fixed some of the bugs with crashing Ableton? Mainly VST3 versions if you delete them from an Ableton track without ā€œdisablingā€ the plugins first. Keeps giving me anxiety every time it happens/

Tried a couple of the demos… and the Jun-6 V does sound lovely. Not sure it’s €199 of lovely when TAL-UNO-LX is a fraction of the cost but the improved functionality of the Arturia seems very well thought out and genuinely adds a lot of value.

Tempted to take them up on a simple €29 upgrade to the Jup-8 V though.

I tried the Juno on my Mac and it seemed lighter in terms of cpu than the cherry audio 106.
But I’m running on an old Mac book pro from 2011.

You’ll need to try the demos on your particular machine.
The other demos I tried sounded good but I’m quite happy with most plugins as I haven’t had the hardware to compare it with.

I like that they put these new macros, browser, and new MIDI config across the entire V Collection and not just the newly released products.
The way you can adjust curves per parameter within a macro really gives it some wild capability, and makes me want to use some of the synths in the collection I was not that fond of before (Prophet V, Matrix 12 V)

I’ll update when NKS is available for Juno, Jupiter and Emulator. I don’t want any plugins that aren’t NKS ready, be it natively or after market.

Update from the time on the demos
I prefer the Roland cloud version, and that’s a 106
Dosent do the juno 6/60 justice

Emulator - annoying, especially when loading samples
Far away from a vintage sampler

Disappointed to say the least

From all the Arturia Stuff I tried, I would say they donā€˜t play in the same league as U-he, Synapse, Roland regarding analog emulation

The new Jupiter and Juno do IMO, I decided to bite early and create some user NKS for now, and the Jupiter for example is easily as good as anything u-he has released.

As far as the emulator… I don’t hear any ā€œsoundā€. Basically you get what you put in, but it’s an easy sampler for loading in the one shots people seem to be liking these days.
