Hopefully the ability to store more than 8 sequences…
Currently internet chat suggests:
- The mk1 is more hands on and direct with arguably more straightforward features, and build quality is renowned for being excellent
- The mk2 is more menu/button based, and it adds in those generative features, however some are reporting lower build quality,

I really hope the 37mk2 was not shelved, I’ve been wanting a 37 mk2 ever since the 32 mk2 was released.
I know there are a lot of other options out there but very few are as small as the keysteo and even less to none have aftertouch, which I really want in a midi keyboard.
I don’t really use ks37 as a sequencer ever, just an arp and midi keyboard and the arp rotary switch snapped off in an accident recently so I took it off my setup and jus enter notes from my Oxi one. I’ve realized that it’s pretty uncommon for me to miss keyboard style entry, after touch, or even velocity, so even though I love Arturias spicy arps and have long wished for exactly this product I think I might not bother with this. I think I might get a big keyboard synth with full polytouch and use that for the rare situations that I actually need a proper key controller.

Does it have any additional features as compared to the 32 or just more keys?

That makes it quite appealing.
The only thing that’s holding me back is the idea that a Keystep Pro 2 is probably coming soon.

Judging by how fast the black version always sells out, I don’t understand why they even bother with this nasty looking white version

BTW: That OLED display is way to big. 
Do they provide a magnifying glass in addition to the USB-C cable?

The keystep (even the 37) is a low cost MIDI controller and the original’s 7 segment display is minimally useful beyond seeing the BPM easily so this is a big improvement. A small “good enough” OLED is not only cheaper but also less likely to result in reliability issues than a larger one. That specific OLED also looks like the one they use on the freak series, which is a perfectly decent screen and I have never had any complaints about the quantity or readability of information on a microfreak or minifreak. If you want a great big screen with a piano roll and whatever else there are other MIDI keyboards targeted at that, for a good amount more money than Arturia will charge for this (which looks to be 200 USD MSRP and people will regularly get it for 150-180 during various sale periods since it will be carried by all the manufacturers who have lots of sales like that).
I have this, only the 32 key version though. 37 keys would be better but it wasn’t out just when I happened to need a MIDI controller with a poly sequencer. I’m mainly focused on production more than performance though, I prefer to program in notes than play them real time on various occasions.
The big and bright 7 segment display is one of the reasons why I will keep my og KS37. For other jobs there are sequencers that provide my eyes the necessary usability and accessibility.

Still no poly AT and the rest does not seem all that compelling for an upgrade, but if mine broke I would never prefer the old one to this, so…. Good QoL upgrade I guess?

I was just fantasizing about upgrading my OG keystep that I’ve had for 10 years at this point but this isn’t compelling enough to do so. I am eyeing that Korg Keystage for the poly AT but it’s a little too pricy for how often I’ll use it 
I’m a little bummed they got rid of the power input. I don’t like sharing data and power over usb if I don’t have to.
I’ll also miss being able to switch midi channels super fast. I assume I’ll need to use the screen/menu now.
On the other hand, Spice and Mutate are nice improvements.

I love my key step 37. I will definitely get the new one. The mutate, randomness, arps . It’s all great. I can use it to have an Arp and the randomize sequencing stuff from my future DT2 sequencing other gear and in my eurorack. It will be a great combo.
