Yep, I am using the cable that came in the box, directly connected to my Mac. Running latest firmware.
And the “it works after unplugging and reconnecting the cable” turns out to be an optimistic outlook. Right now I can’t get my Mac to see it at all despite power cycles and cable reconnecting. It was working; I went for a walk, Mac went to sleep, and now I can’t seem to get anywhere.
Two days ago, I unboxed and started playing around with an Audiofuse Rig16 to replace a couple of Mackie analog mixers. I really wanted a solution to have easy access to a 4.1 monitor system, with a bunch of ins and outs, so with the new “Immersive” feature introduced in the 2.0 version of the AFCC app, it seemed like it would do the trick. I do really, really like being able to set the trim of each speaker separately (not in pairs) since they are not all equidistant from my listening point, and then easily turning monitoring up and down as needed.
For the better part of yesterday, I was trying to figure out why my signals were coming in so low on the back analog ins. Of course, like Spinal Tap, I turned up the mixers to “11,” which introduced distortion and noise. I checked my new studio monitors for input gain and wattage settings (all the same, second highest setting). I checked the manual, this thread, reddit, Perplexity, and it was Perplexity that suggested I check the cables running from the mixers to the Audiofuse (duh). I’d been running the main outs of my mixers to the ins on the Audiofuse. I should have done this much sooner, but I bypassed the Mackie Mixers and routed a couple of synths straight to the Audiofuse–problem solved. I even had to turn down the output on the Main Mix in the AFCC software so I could have a nice range using the Monitor knob on the face of the audio fuse. I double checked the cables to make sure they are all TRS balanced, and they are, so I am not sure what gives–do the Mackie mixers output at a low signal level? If true, this might explain part of why I was dissatisfied with my previous setup (not loud enough at unity on the mixers, so always trying to balance volume versus distortion and muddiness).
With much of this sorted, I am super excited to (eventually) re-route everything directly to the Audiofuse (I have one Audiofuse 8 in ADAT expander which I haven’t opened or connected yet). I may need another one. We’ll see.
For others who’ve experienced dropouts and their Mac not seeing the Audiofuse, I am using it with a Mac Studio (M4 Max) connected via the USB cable that came with it directly to one of the USB C ports on the front of the Mac Studio. I did need to restart both the Audiofuse and the Mac after first connecting it and launching AFCC to upgrade the software and the firmware of the Audiofuse. So far, in multiple restarts of both the Mac and the Audiofuse, and multiple sleep/wake cycles, I’ve experienced no problems at all. I will plan to see if I can get solid connectivity using one of my two thunderbolt docs to make that front USB port available for a portable hard drive I use for music samples and software. BTW, I used it for two days without any issues before remembering to register it at Arturia.

Because the 16Rig is working on Mac without any driver, it means that it is class compliant.
But class compliance can mean a lot of things.
Our interfaces, like a lot of our competitor, does not implement the control part of the spec as we use an improved private protocol to configure it. But it is audio streaming compliant.
Also note that we do not test it on Linux. We cannot give any support for Linux users, and I cannot even guarantee that it will works as we didn’t really tried it. I’ve seen devices with a lot of IOs to not be correctly detected by Alsa even with the audio class compliance. So be careful here.
Unfortunately, hubs are not supported on the 16Rig USB ports.
I was kind of expecting this to be the case. The Push 3 is also fiddly using any docks.
How are all you users getting along with the 16 rig? Has there been any on going major issues with this interface? (Im on mac with sequoia) Really curious if everything is as good it seems it could be.
Ive been eyballing intensly any sales for it as an upgrade from scarlett 18i6 as my adat door broke off and a botched superglue job ruined any input expansion ideas. Really not a fan of the flimsy adat stuf and im too poor to invest in other protocalls or solutions.
16 ins from my mixer in 1u is very tempting and id bite right now if i could buy it for $999.
I’ve had a similar issue happen to me. Your USB audio interface might not be playing nice because macOS (especially on Apple Silicon Macs running Ventura or later) can block or fail to re‑establish USB accessory connections. The “Allow accessories to connect” setting in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessories controls whether new or unknown devices are allowed—if it’s set to “Ask for new accessories,” the Mac may block the interface until you grant permission. To fix it: unlock your MacBook, reconnect the interface directly (not through a hub), and change that setting to “Always allow.”
This solved the issue I had and it might for you too.
No issues here (on Mac). It just works. I’ve also got the Arturia ins and outs expanders and it has all worked great for me.
The only thing is if I leave my computer for a few hours, a few times when I come back I’ve needed to restart the interface. Could be the computer going to sleep or something, I don’t know. Maybe it was even changed in an update as that was a long time ago. Super minor detail that didn’t really bother me, just reporting my experience.
Been using a Focusrite 2i2 first gen for about 14 years now and i think it’s long overdue to finally upgrade. Has been a though choice between this one and the Motu 16A but it’s gonna be the Arturia for me. Gonna hang in there for another week to see if there are some summer sales

@MurkyFreddery On the Elektron boxes, there’s a setting to change the device from Overbridge mode to USB MIDI. I’m guessing that could do the job. The boxes send midi over USB (eg: to iPad/iPhone)
