I like the effects. Not a huge fan of the reverbs as normal set and forget reverbs but they are fun to modulate and get weird with and the distortion and filter are really good.
I think I prefer Dark Reverb over the DT2âs reverbâŚ

I think I would too because thereâs something I really donât like about the one reverb algorithm Elektron has been relying on for every single new machine. I just canât get it to sound right for percussion.

Pretty much this. I also have a Eventide i can throw in the mix. I want someone to make a hybrid reverb pedal or effect with convolution.

They are fine. Great even. Iâm the context of playing live in a club, through a house system, the audience wonât know.

I am starting to think that dry sounds are a little boring for what I want to do in Techno or Electro in that same matter. Some even use a Filterbank aka Bandpass Filter.
Thanks looks wild specially the Poly Verbs but they also cost a penny. Then i would have to sell something.

Dark plate, chorus, compressor, filter, comb filter are all absolute classics in context of OT workflow and overall sound
I didnât like the FX of the OT. Bad ? depends of your use. If you take times to experiments and Plock and combine things, you can go crazy good. If you just want instant reverb itâs not the best reverb I hear. I much prefer the digi FX for the simplicity and the instant rewarding quality.
I think OT really shine if you use FX with buffer sampling and scenes. If you have times to spend learning and testing, you should be happy with the OT. If you just want something direct and simple, maybe you will be disapointed before your first good result with the box.
For me the best effect are on the Analog series and the fact you have an FX track is awesome if you know what you can do with it
Digi effects are ok to me, nothing special, same as a software plug in

The best part about OT FX is that unlike the other modern Elektron boxes, you have 8 independent delays with their own settings for time and feedback. And you can modulate those all with the fader through scenes.
That is a huge tool for easily crafting turnarounds and fills.

Theyâre fantastic and in context inside a great creative box which counts for a lot!
As with many things octatrack, theyâre not so great the moment you switch them on. They could have made this device much more palatable with a bit more thought about easy good ready to use presets and templates.
Anyway, Iâd say: donât judge the ot reverbs by how they sound when you first load them, mess with the parameters and learn what pleases you in them.

Honestly theyâre not âbadâ but for me do need some under the hood tweaking, Iâm not looking for Strymon level or any crazy DSP upgrades but I think they doâŚlack a pulse and can sound alittle flat. Can you make up for it with LFOâs? sure. But itâd be nice to not have too.
Dark reverb is really nice.
For me delay, comb, chorus and lo-fi need the most tweaking. (And lo-fi is the worst of them, wouldnât be mad if they subbed it for something else entirely)
