Hi
I acquired an AR MKII a few months ago, it is the drum machine I was looking for, and in quick sketching, studio beatmaking in-session, on the spot rhythm arrangement with the internal sequencer and manual operation, it just rules.
Then comes Overbridge, which is supposed to streamline USB use in order to synchronise it all with a DAW session and stream separate outputs over USB.
So far, dandy.
Only when you start to use Overbridge, you go through days that might end up claiming a few weeks of your life, for lack of euphemism.
-
It doesn’t work properly in Reaper : glitch heaven, tempo-mismatch, no latching properly on “play”, nightmare
-
Logic Pro isn’t smooth either
-
Ableton has been the smoothest so far
ONLY if I use Overbridge in stereo mode, as in, not creating inputs of an Aggregate device on Mac with my main converters (Metric Halo ULN-8) + Analog Rhythm) for separate track recording.
Then, sync breaks, or adds latency (tried all the overbridge settings, the AR latency, Ableton buffer size etc…)
Only now and then it seems to work fine.
Do any of you have a template, or a series of settings that work time after time to have the multi-track through USB for the AR work fine?
Or did you abandon that and route all outputs analog and just use Overbridge for sync start/stop?
Any experience, help, tips, pitfalls to avoid appreciated as this is such a time waister when you want to record what you just made, and keep creating only to get stuck.
Thank you
T
