AR mkII (black) loose knob tolerances

Hi All,

Brand new (today) AR mkII (black) direct from Elektron. The Main Volume and Quick Perf Amount knobs have a little wobble to them. This is most noticeable when you grab the QPA knob to change it and it moves a few millimeters.

To reproduce, don’t turn the knob, just gently push it up and down or left and right.

This is the worst knob of a number of my newer Elektron pieces although others do have some play here and there. Comparing against DTakt, OTmkII, and DTKeys.

Is this just the way it is with these knobs that don’t push down? Anyone else notice this? To what extent does it happen on your machine?

Thanks!

Perf knob on my ar2 is way wobbly, but that may be from use

Here as well - grey ar mk2 from 2019, never caused any problem (and never actually remarked this in use before).

Just bought a black MKII and I noticed the same. The volume knob is a bit wobbly, as is the perf. But it’s not enough to let it become an obsession :sunglasses:

I upgraded from a 707 (which I really liked), because I was looking for a more darker, raw sound. Doesn’t let me down in that departement.

Overall the AR is a really solid piece of gear. Really liking it so far.

I have a brand new black MKII too but I didn’t notice anything of what you are mentioning. Quite opposite the feeling is pretty nice.

Thanks everyone - it seems like this just may be a thing - as long as they don’t break, it will probably be fine. The Quick Perf knob is worse than volume and more “annoying” but if it is what it is then it is what it is. Thanks for the responses. Maybe Elektron can tighten those up on future builds.
