If you have 1k to put in a Rytm, let it be a grey mk2!
If you’re ok with the form factor, it’s a nice update of the old one.

My French is a litttttle rusty, are these all on the secondhand market in France? With shipping and the exchange rate that’s putting my pretty close to a brand new one in terms of price, BUT, this is still very good to know:)
Thank you for pointing me to that site.
I just recently bought a Mk1 (it matches my Mk1 OT ) and I’m quite impressed with it. Seeing as I have an OT, I don’t care about the Mk2 sampling capabilities at all, and I have no gear that uses CV (i.e. no modular or anything) and just generally don’t want a higher price tag…I mean, $500 more for those features just doesn’t seem worth it to me personally.
I do think samples for the Rytm are essential, though. Ngl, I can’t get good sounding hi hats out of the thing and much prefer hat samples. The clap has a very narrow sweet spot, and the snare has a lot of sweet spots but they’re a bit hard to dial in. Sometimes I’m craving that detuned, low, thuddy kind of Linn drum snare and I need a Linn Drum sample. Sometimes the analog synthesis does good work there.
So then I get to thinking well maybe I could use a Digitakt instead but I really enjoy all the performance aspects of the Rytm. The aftertouch pads, the scenes and perf modes, the p locking of analog drum synthesis, all of it.
Yes, it’s the best indicator for second market rices in France. There is a EN version, as well, but I can’t say how relevant it is
$1000 is indeed pretty steep. I’d echo others here and say dave up for the MK2 or wait for a better deal. I scored mine for much less… Granted I need to get the pads fixed as I can’t really use the mutes reliably, and I also fried the USB port. Even though, it’s grown on me a lot. It rewards tinkering.
strange that there’s plenty of a4/ak mk1 for cheap, but not so much for the ar
A4 is greatly underrated, IMO.
You could probably call and get a 15-20 percent discount from any of the big name online retailers on a MK2. A little more and you get brand new with a warranty. Good luck!
yeah getting one fairly soon. waiting for french winter sale in 2 weeks, hopefully they will have something for the grey mk2 machines
