AR M2 Sampler Compared To Koala Sampler

Hello,

Looking for advise.

I currently have a Syntakt that I pair with my phone via midi to trigger Koala sampler samples - mostly just one-shot vocals processed run through the sampler’s effects (which are quite good, I think).

Is the AR M2’s sampler just as capable are Koala’s in terms of effects and sample processing? (Or maybe leagues better - sorry, in advance, if my question comes off as stupid.) I’m quite happy with what I get from the Koala sampler as a sampling extension to my Syntakt, but I’m thinking that if I upgrade to the AR M2, I won’t have to go to the trouble of setting up my phone and Syntakt everytime. I understand that the AR M2’s sampler is not as capable as the Digitakt’s, but I don’t think I need that kind sample processing (mangling) capability.

Many thanks!

If you’re happy with your current setup, you should just leave it as it is.

AR is not a „Koala upgrade“, it’s a completely different approach. I‘d recommend to just get the AR (or something else), if you like it’s core features/workflow.

Koala: Drag & drop, Cloud integration, always in your pocket, some clever features like stem separation, …

AR: synth & sample layering, analog distortion, bit crusher, pumping compressor, sample pool logic, …

Of course, the Koala effects don’t sound like the AR‘s and vice versa.

Maybe watch some AR videos and see if you like how it works and sounds.

Edit: if you like Koala, maybe rather consider a SP-404mk2.
