Hi apologies if this has already been discussed .I am trying to decide on 2nd hand .A.R.MK1 or new.A.R…MK2 …I had the A.R. MK1 last year but hated the sample management sold it and brought the D.T. which i,am very happy with but i do miss the A.R,s analog sound and want to get another one. What do you guy who have had the A.R.MK1 and now have the MK2 think about the sound differences ?Are there any?..Will i miss out on improved sound quality of the MK2 or is there no difference other than sampling ability?.So far I’ve heard different reports from different users. .I don’t plan on using the sample feature just the analog …D.T will take care of my sampling needs…
I don’t have a mk2 so don’t have 1rst hand input but do have a mk1 and also read the forum and inspect new Elektrons pretty thoroughly. From everything I’ve read the sound should be identical…
i can give you a pretty honest answer as i have owned both a MK1 and now i have a mk2 and for actual sound quality i would say zero difference, both units sound huge,im about a week in to using the MK2 and the better user interface is a big bonus in my honest opinion as is the better screen(for my ageing 42 year old eyes)
that said 2nd hand units are for ‘peanuts’(still about £750-800 though) but its still a big saving, personally i would go for another MK1 to be honest
your choice though
No - this is from official sources. Both are identical in that regard.
Hey thanks guys for the reply,s ill get the MK1 on ebay …cheers
