AR is like a Sequential Circuits Studio 440 on steroids

Anyone else think this?

The thing that excites me most about the AR is that it is like a sampler with analog filters. I used to own a Studio 440 for a while many years ago, and I’ve always lusted for one again. The AR has effectively squashed my desire for the Studio 440, and the EMU SP1200 even (another sampler with analog filter I’ve owned at one point).

… the analog drums will definitely be awesome too… it makes me wonder who would even bother with an SP1200, or Studio 440 at the prices they go for nowadays with something like the AR soon available.

The AR seems way more desirable to me than the Octatrack as well for sample playback purposes. I never really liked the effects/filter on the octatrack as much as everyon else seems to; they sound too clean to me. I’m excited for samples being processed by overdriven analog filters, analog distortion, and analog compression.

I wonder if the possibility of it actualy recording is there? I mean I know its probably not gonna happen because of OT… But then again UW Can can’t it!?

Either way I’m getting unreasonably excited about learning more.

I guess we’ll find out when the first batch is shipped and someone opened their machine up to look for a UW connector

I’ve tested the AR at Musikmesse and it sounds fantastic eventhough the display is a little bit too small for me, it seems to be worth the wait.

I don’t even care about it not being able to sample; I have other ways of sampling sounds. I just hope the whole sample transferring process via USB is streamlined, and works easily.

Midi out would be nice/smart of Elektron, but I doubt they’ll give it to us. If I could have the AR midi sequence one monosynth sometime in the future, I’d be very satisfied.

:+1:

I hope it´s not too basic what can be done with samples inside. But no information so far.

If it´s not limited (storage etc.) i´m in ; )

I guess some kind of limitation like a limited sampling memory will be there, because sampling as mentioned before is an Octatrack thing.
When it becomes as affordable as used OT’s in about a year or two count me in for analog mayhem on the AR

… “For ultimate percussive flexibility, every voice can also be spiced up with customizable samples. The perfect unity of analog drum sounds and samples simply goes beyond”

We´ll see ; )

Studio 440 indeed , )

AR has the opportunity to be pretty awesome

I only hope Elektron see’s it the way that some of us do, if not even crazier from there perspective, and it gets designed uninhibitedly.

I also don’t mind if it cannot sample, as long as it can do everything else that it could potentially do supremely.

That’s how you make a name for yourself isn’t it ?

Not rushing something half baked and soon to be replaced again and again…

But Dropping a hammer so big everything else on the market falls in line ]

I usually like the limited box size that each machine exists within, but could you imagine if they pushed a little outside of that and made the AR a bit more spaced out and ergonomic with some additional explosive controls. Essentially what makes the Analog Key so unique, is it might be the first machine to get things moved around considerably and more comfortably.

AR could then have - Better knobs that have more room in-between them, bigger pads for beating on intuitively, CF or SD card holder for loading samples, Joystick and or crossfader, bigger Teenage engineering OP-1 Screen

The Moog Sub37 seems to be this new kind of control overkill, that looked out of place when it was leaked, and still induces a long second look.

I acknowledge that that would mean it costing more, but I would gladly pay for that extra love, and I imagine others would as well, as it has become more and more clear that a lot of Elektronauts have studios that they have posted on here showcasing all of the machines and more.

Maybe this is AR mk2 Im talking about, but AR could have these features

I do love and respect Elektron, as they are the company I admire most amongst the rest of the market, I just eat sleep and dream the beauty and potential of these machines of our time and the coming future of tomorrow

:+1: I would buy that

Elektron with an OP-1 amoled screen = want , |

And an Elektron bigger box would be fuckin awesome

I think they are fascinated/obsessed with TR-606/TB-303/SH-101 small form factor and want to fit the most fonctionalities in this SFF as much as they can. Keeping each boxe specific and complemente each others.

Octatrack would be kind of a deviation of plan after experimenting UW on the MD and popular demand for an “Elektron sampler”. But I think they relate on the iconic TR-606 and TB-303 and won’t deviate on the form factor, only if they must to…

Someone made this mockup on Elektron-Users, if you remember :

This is kind of fun, seeing AR coming with pads and all… Still they kept their SFF!

Yep, fit that with an amoled screen and you have one mean machine

Doesn’t have to be that huge though , )

Push has midi out
