AR in one midi track

hello, I have a question with AR. I try to have one midi track in logic and able to manipulate and edit what I want and when I want.

The problem is that now with the AR can only have 12 tracks to record midi independent and this does not seem very comfortable. Before the MD was easier, all in one midi track. Anyone know how you can fix this and have only one track for RA?
thanks

If you just want to trigger the pad sounds, you can do this via notes 0-11 on any MIDI track. The AR will route those notes to the pads automatically. So you can just use channel 1, for example, to sequence the AR, and tell the AR to ignore all other channels in the settings. Edit: I think I was wrong here (see below).

with the MD this could be done as you say chromatically. Why now with a machine that is supposed to be its evolution, you can not? let’s see if the overbridge expands its possibilities …

To chromatically play the Rytm’s twelve distinct sounds in one MIDI channel is asking quite a lot - you could divide up a keyboard to do it, as you might with a multitimbral sampler patch, but you’d have limited range - and you wouldn’t be able to send filter change CCs, for example, because the Rytm would have no idea which sound you wanted them applied to.

I’m not sure how the MD does it as I don’t have one, but I can’t imagine an elegant or particularly workable solution for the Rytm (which is not to say someone else won’t have a good answer…).

Actually, I think I’ve got things a bit wrong above - according to the manual, for the notes 0-11 to trigger sounds, the sounds themselves still need to be assigned to channels 1-12.

So while you can trigger all the sounds from one channel, this presumably doesn’t free up the other eleven channels for use elsewhere - if you disable channels 2-12, say, you won’t be able to use notes 1-11 to trigger sounds.

I guess you could work around this by filtering MIDI messages before they hit the Rytm - just send it one channel. As I say, I haven’t tried this myself, and following the above I don’t think I’m likely to…

If I am understanding correctly, you want to be able to play all 12 sounds (non-chromatically) on one octave of keys, yes?

If so, I’ve been trying to figure out this same thing and I don’t think it’s possible.

Perhaps in an update they could add something like this:

  1. CH1 - Whichever part is currently selected is played chromatically
  2. CH2 - 11 - The part assigned to that channel is played chromatically
  3. CH12 - Pads 1-12 are played non-chromatically over one octave of keys

We already have the first two, surely the 3rd one would not be difficult to write into an OS update, right?

but that is already doable. i’m using it a lot. you just need to assign the auto channel. it’s all there in the fantastic manual.

I guess I’ll have to check again. I sure did read the wonderful manual and I sure did try the auto channel setting but I could not get it to work no matter what I did.

Try the very first notes (C2 to B2) of any track channel.

I’m pretty sure this isn’t possible with the MD, but if it is then ace! How?
