Has anyone in Australian ever tried to order a machine online from Elektron (despite the notice saying they deal with distributors, etc)? I noticed that you can choose AU power supply when you check-out … would they allow you to buy an AR and deliver to Australia??! (much cheaper too) …

That’s a bit of a bummer. I’ve got an AR on order at Awave.

But oh well. Audio kit always takes ages to get out here

Remember importing items into Aus over a grand tend to be stuck with an import tax and will more than likely end up costing a little more than getting it from Awave or Audio Chocolate. Check customs site for tax details.

just received mine today. ordered from audio chocolate. think i was 1 or 2 on the list though. but looks like they are on the way.

Customs fees will be about $350ish, plus ~$80 shipping, it may still work out to be cheaper, but only just. I’ve been told 4-8 weeks if you put down the money now.

Also worth mentioning:

If you need to get a unit repaired under warranty and it was purchased from a dealer outside of Australia, Awave (or any local tech in the same dealer network) will not repair the unit - it would have to be sent back to HQ / the original dealer.

Speaking from experience here, after taking advantage of the Elektron upgrade offer a couple of years back. Awave would not touch it …

AKs are only just starting to arrive, the AR will be a while unless you’ve pre-ordered.

I bought AR online shipped to sydney, despite the warning. figured if it didn’t work out and the order got canned, I’d have my money refunded.

Also, most other gear in their store is conspicuously unable to be added to cart even though showing online stock… so I took that as a sign that ordering was fine.

As far as money goes, with conversion fees and import duties you don’t really save much (worked out about 100-ish I think) In the unlikely event that I need to send it back for service, that’s $100 I still have to do that…

Main reason I bought online, is I don’t like that audiochocolate list it as in stock when it’s obviously not in stock. My very first experience of dealing with them was a lie… not a great starting point for something with an unknown delivery time.

Anyway - got to say this is an amazing machine. my first elektron product. you’re going to love it when they show up!!

why? you sound bitter.
imo it’s a fantastic shop full of great new and old gear. ive nothing to gain by saying this, i’m really happy with my deals from them, and being able to try new gear before buying is essential for me.
perhaps you would rather deal with rhythm_active? cough.

Yeah awave are pretty good really.

I’ve been investigating package forwarding services - for a very small fee they will remove all invoicing and will send it as a gift. They create a virtual. Address so you can get stuff from sites that prevent via geoblocking - amazon ect.
The way I look at it is this a market economy and my right - nah, duty to get the best price for myself. I don’t for a second think it’s immoral. So work it out - could save quite a pretty penny

I’ve bought all my Elektron stuff from Awave. Always been happy. Considering buying a Sub 37 from them at some point as well.

I note that they haven’t pushed the order date back on the AR in their catalogue, so it looks as if they actually have some in stock.

This is good news. I preordered mine. I hope I see it soon!

I pinged Awave about my preorder. They say it’s a few weeks away yet. So, looks as if we’ll have to sit tight for a bit longer.

My feeling is that any incoming stock will go straight away, so if you’re keen, put in a preorder.

If you refer to other threads, seems fairly obvious that they (Audo Chocolate / Awave / Store DJ ) are just getting the run around from Elektron, who won’t give them a straight answer on when they will get round to shipping orders.

My respect for Elektron is on an ever continuing downward spiral since the MachineDrum, and I don’t even have a horse in this race.
