Ar crashed when loading a sample and messed up project

Hi, before today I have only uploaded one sample to my analog rytm and that was the science lab sample. It worked fine, I uploaded it using c6 as shown in the Elektron tutorial video.
today I tried to upload a single sample using the same method. I went to the incoming folder and hit send on c6 nothing happened on the machine although the transfer bar on the c6 software progressed as normal so I restarted the ar and tried again this time things got crazy… as the bar on the software moved the ar made loads of horrible noise…It almost sounded like the old internet dial up tone. once the sample transfer bar in c6 finished the noise stopped but my ar was barely responding to any button pushes and random pads where lighting up.

I restarted the ar once again and it was responsive but when I hit play it started making loads of horrible noise as if all the parameters had been randomised but this wasn’t the case because when I tried moving parameters nothing was changing the sounds which sounded nothing like the drum sounds i had programmed.

Initially I thought i had fried the analog engines some how but when I loaded a new project it was fine but when i went back to the old project it was still messed up!

Any idea what would cause this…maybe the sample was the wrong format. I’m scared to try again incase it happens again as i had to wipe a project I was working on for a while.

Please contact support about this if you have not done already. This one is peculiar

Had the same behaviour a week ago, except i wasn’t transferring samples.
Loaded up an older project and it started trippin’ major balls.
Pads were lighting up and the rytm started playing random patterns of noise.
Only shutting down solved the problem.
I disconnected the power supply and plugged it back in.
The project was fine like nothing happened :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

ok thanks for the reply, sent it on to support

hope its just an os bug and not the hardware. mine is fine now but haven’t tried loading any more samples

It only happend once so i’m not too worried.
Good luck hodge, maybe check in once a while and keep us updated?

Lmfao - Internet dialing tone.

Sorry your having an issue man, but I thought about that sound coming from my AR and I can’t stop laughing.

It was kinda funny…had some random drum hits in there too. must have been fireing off every sound it could make. have to try again later with a new
project

ok so I started a test project to do some experimenting. I took a little video to show it happening again sounded even worse this time. tried with some of the samples that people have posted on the downloads page and they worked fine so I’m assuming it has something to do with this particular sample. it is an mp3 recording from audio hijack the recording is only 50 seconds long and file size is 720k…is there some way I should be treating my samples before sending them?

I will attach a link for the video and a link for the sample if any of you guys are curious enough to try it on a new project .

I am pretty sure it’s the fact that its an MP3. The rytm uses 16bit/48khz mono files. It will convert many of the the standard format to this internally, but I try to prepare all my sample in this format. I doubt it will accept MP3, orb, flac, ect.

And now it seems I can make Internet dialing tones by sending my rytm mp3 files. Hahahahaha

hahaha thanks for the tip…Ill get converting then
just glad it wasn’t a glitch in my machine
