Anyone write tunes sitting on the floor with mini floor desk?

sitting on your heels, I get it. my knees can’t take it anymore, but I know it well.

This is how you smoke cigarettes on break from working in a restaurant, out back with no chairs and you can’t lean against the wall and get your shirt dirty.

Actually I had really severe problems with my knees since my childhood (presumably from some kind of accident) that only got fixed a few years ago (when I changed doctors until “we can’t find anything” turned into “we have to do surgery asap”). Now I just want to become really fit and value that it is something I can do now.

On another note, Elektronauts inspired me strongly to get away from sitting, and now I have my stuff on Japser Stands to have a standing position. I also do live now always standing. But that’s all Off Topic

I do most of my creating in a relaxed position, I’ll just sit wherever with my headphones and one of my models (usually the cycles these days) and just create whatever I want to.

over time I build up patterns this way, and eventually sit down and decide which patterns i’m drawn to and then try to make those into full songs. then i’ll mix them into my performance rig to get them ready to be played.

usually at this point i’m sitting in front of my computer at my desk, though in the future I want to move towards getting a standing desk

testing this setup out in the sitting room before committing it to the studio. really liking it so far.

spent hours building a groovebox template in ableton all day, haven’t spent anywhere near that long on my gear in a long time. that’s very encouraging.

this li’l floor seat is great for my back, it’s got a bit of give in it, nice cushion too. supports me back very well.

micro table is perfect height for me, not too high.

ngl, I didn’t think this would work but I’m sold.

Getting away from the office and into natural light can be really refreshing. It’s the thought of moving all those cables and over plugs that hampers it for me. Plus my old ass back and neck start to bang on about wtf I’m doing sitting on the floor after about 10 minutes. One thing that helps me refresh is to reorganize the office. Tricks my brain into thinking it’s a new space.

i find on the floor its a clamer jam session for the day with stuff like toy pianos. i need to be standing to get in a deep groove most of the time but theres room for both

I got myself a lapdesk and I use it everywhere, in bed, on the couch or sometimes I’ll sit on the floor with it. I’m often there anyways with the cats, so it works.

I have a similar stand to the one you have, but I hate having my legs through it because I always worry that I might have to get up quickly, and then it becomes a messy accident.

This lap desk, works for me.

Definitely an interesting seat! I’m going to look into maybe adding one, if I can figure out where to put it, when not in use:

yea im mostly sitting in like half lotus or whatever its called (standard crossed ankles scenario, then maybe one knee bent vertically kinda thing for variation. thought I’d mostly have my legs straight out under the table but it hasn’t been the case. I hear ya it could lead to a birra a accident

I have no cables apart from the single faderfox usb in this setup, which is handy.
