I fancy trying one of these. I have looked at the kit assembly and would not personally fancy taking on the challenge (no soldering skills and a bit too thick)
Anyone in the UK able to take on the task.
Payment I can offer = A brand new unopened Volca Keys and of course trying out the machine for a little while.
(Someone well known from EU that I would be familiar with a preference, if of course anyone is interested)
I built one as my first self build and it was straightforward enough (and works perfectly) but I couldn’t handle the responsibility of building one for someone else
Neil Baldwin is the guy you are looking for - if you search old forum or google you’ll get a direct link to his workshop site.
I could do it but I’m in japan so not sure if you’d wanna deal with posting stuff. Of course things like this aren’t really all that hard to build yourself, and its well worth the effort just for the self satisfaction.
I would love to build myself but have never done anything like this before and have dyslexia so the instructions mean nothing to me (so is basically my problem). I learn the elektron boxes slowly for this reason.
I am very familiar with Neil from the old forum so am going to seek his expertise on the matter. If he is unable to assist I will check back.
Glad you have found a trusty man for the job. I have an SP LXR ready built if anyone is interested, looking to sell it to fund a MD UW. Also for sale a Roland R8 if anyone is interested with 808 and 909 cards, also possibly an Anushri
Cheers - jk
Nice, let us hear it when it’s built. I really want to build an ambika but sourcing the parts in Japan is difficult. I can’t read Japanese well enough to search out the BOM.
if anyone needs some help building devices, i’m up for an helping hand…as long as it’s not a two floors analog beast
edit: it would be good to have something like a reference here on the forum for other people as well…something like a list of people that would/could help…just in case, what do you think guys?
LXR is my first ‘proper’ drum machine (apart from a 606) and I am in absolute love with it - not just cos I built it with my own sweat, but because it is soo damn easy to use and sounds sweet. Somebody else said the kicks sound great, I don’t have anything to compare except samples (and a 606 ) but I know one thing, I always spend a wee bit of time turning the kicks down and shaving off some attack
I build stuff. Lots of stuff http://marmotaudio.co.uk
There’s a few testimonials from past customers (which I’ve just noticed I’ve not updated for over 6 months!) here: http://marmotaudio.co.uk/testimonials
I’m on the Mutable Instruments recommended builder list for anyone that needs a builder. I’ve lost count of what I’ve done, currently building my 5th and 6th Ambika though
It would be good to see what services etc could be offered by forum members. Builds, tuition perhaps. I think anything will get lost within this thread so perhaps someone who has something to offer the community might consider starting a thread for this purpose in general discussion or sandbox perhaps. I would do it myself (but I have nothing to offer
Since there was a very popular thread about it in the early days of elektronauts you may even want to consider listing your pet grooming skills for those Elektron users that have pets.
I am so impressed by it. It sounds far better than I had hoped. The range of sounds on offer are vast. I can see already that this is gonna be a lot of fun. A genuinely great bit of Techno in a box. You could easily go deep with it but its great for just getting something instant going (which is mostly what I have time for). Whats impressed me already is the amount of mental basslines and drones and other non drum sounds I have had coming from it. Yes I will use it a lot with my OT but I think i can see I will be using it alot on its own.
Thanks to Neil Baldwin who did the build. An absolute gentlemen and really really quick.
