I’ve been wondering whether or not it might be worth adding a unit like the TC Finalizer to my rig for playing live.
I do rough mastering at home with the MD3 plugin on Powercore and like the result.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

I depends on how your setup gears on stage.
Maybe it’s enough when you use the master track 8 on your Octatrack and insert there the compressor?
If you’re searching something small and affordable, which isn’t a 19" unit.
Then look for and FMR RNC.
I can’t recommend stuff like the dbx compressors or some other cheap ****.
If you have an Finalizer, then i would use it
It’s just a matter of how you connect it to your gear
I have used one for the last few years in conjunction with an overstayer vca compressor in a portable rack case for my main Elektron mix both in studio and for performance. There have been quite a few positive comments regarding punch and presence in comparison to dj’s etc playing off computer or cd while performing. Maybe thats also due to the very nice q outputs on the OT as well.
re: the OT master channel you can only combine say an eq + compressor, with no proper metering function. It just doesn’t compare to a dedicated master bus chain.
The finalizer allows DRG (a type of expander/saturation), multiband eq, multiband compression, stereo width, normalisation, limiter, + saveable settings recallable via program change. Also the visual metering is very good.
I got mine quite cheap but dont think I will ever get rid of it. I have tried using plug ins like glue/isotope etc through a laptop, as well as the audio mastering app on ipad for same function to try and reduce weight of gear but it just doesnt give me the same sound & I have had issues with reliability.
My experience has been positive so can only say get one and see what flies.
