So I have a M3 16" MBP and started with Ableton 11 again
I’ve been having a lot of lag with ableton. I know there are issues with the M3 already, but my question is this. Right now I’m using a USB B to USB A cable to go to my Behringer XR18 from my mac with an adapter (USB A to USB C).
I’m wondering if I’d be better off with this on the mixer
The other issue is that my Mac is about 12’ from the mixer. Any ideas?
Thanks
I think you’re better of with the cable. Plus that adapter in the pic, and others like it, might not have the correct circuitry to make a safe connection, power-wise.
USB-C devices negotiate with each other when plugged in, decided who sends power to whom, and how much. I wouldn’t necessarily trust a cheap dongle.
Adapters that go in the other direction—allowing you to plug a USB-A plug into a USB-C port, for example—should be fine.
I would try a different cable, and then look elsewhere for the delay problems.

Agree with a cable. I just picked up one linked below and it works great. Use it with DN and an old Behringer audio interface on a Mac M1.
