Anyone successful with sampling in rythm mk2?

when I press the sampling button, I can choose the sampling source…
i want to sample the sound I create in the rhythm MK2 itself, so I choose for ‘master’.

but when I listen to it, it sounds weird… not like what I just played. what do I do wrong?

I made a video about what I do and how it sounds…

No one?

I have no idea where in the audio chain the internal sanpling happens, but this kinda sounds like you’re going through the distortion and the compressor twice.

EDIT: Listening again, it sounds like there’s delay on the channel you’re previewing the sample playback through.

Anyone else who has the same problems?

You sure you’re not playing a sample with fx through the same effect settings as the source?

Also, is there a lot of panning going on in the source material? I’d imagine that comes out in all kinds of weird ways through the Rytm’s mono sampling chain.

What you hear comes from the sample recorder, So it is not yet imported in a sample slot

With my Digitakt this was never a problem… Digitakt is also mono

It’s likely to work a bit different on the Rytm because the signal path is hardwired there while the Digitakt is all digital.

I don’t have an MK2, but I agree that you are going through the Master FX stage twice.

I thought When I record with fx, and play it in a sampler that is routed to the master without fx, it should work… Or?

It should, but distortion and compression are on the master. Also, are you sure it’s not playing alonf with the pattern.

I really don’t know though, I don’t own a MkII so I can’t try myself.

Yes, I am sure I only play the recorded sample…

Tonight I am going to try with the ext audio in, the audio will come from the headphones

It sounds like you have the Master FX being applied so that when you resample the sound and play it back with the Master FX still being applied, it gets processed again. If you turn off the Master FX, does it sound right?

So I tried other kinds of sampling…
and all sound weird
sampling a hh or a bd…
sampling from external source
sampling the main.

Can it be my machine that is broken?

After you record and you preview, is that a preview from the file system or is the sample loaded on a track (which may have LFO / FX on it)?

Not sure i understand you

I record into the recorder
Then I preview from the recorder
So no fx Or lfo connected

Is there any Master distortion or compression being applied before you’ve sampled from the master out? If so, turn them off when you play back the sample to see what the sample sounds like without the distortion and/or compression being applied again. If this isn’t the case, you might have a problem with the unit.

I got my rytm mk2 only a week ago. Sampling the main output (or any of the individual tracks) is working the way I would expect - which is the way you appear to be doing it in the video. The only way I was able to reproduce something like what I can hear in your video was by enabling delay when sampling and then leaving it enabled when previewing the new sample. It appears that sample preview goes through the effects too. But the actual sample is ok. After sampling I turned fx off and preview/trim/save.

But you say no fx or lfo involved… so I have to conclude, without any other knowlege, that something is broken - or you are doing something else that is not obvious from the video.

I do not have a mk2, but I recall a system setting in the mk1 called ‘preview with effects’ (or something like that) that you could toggle on or off.

where did you find it?

Off the top of my head I don’t recall, I just know it’s a system setting somewhere. I won’t be able to check until later tonight. There are only so many menus to look through though, I’m sure it wouldn’t take long to find
