So I’ve had a lot of noise synths over the years, including the OG Lyra-4 and several Lyra-8s. Now that the Lyra-4 is reissued and plentiful, anyone else thinking about running two in stereo/dual-mono? To me the advantages these have over a single Lyra-8 are: two LFOs, two delays, two distortions, and the option of being able to set up in very different settings, or same settings with slight variations that become really noticeable when panned R/L. I think “stereoizing” would add depth to the sometimes murky Lyra sound. Thoughts?
There are a couple of dual Lyra-4 videos out there, including one from Soma, but aren’t really demonstrating how one might use them in stereo.
I was thinking about this myself. The only drawback is that with 4 voices you have less FM interoperability. There’s a unique sound that the 8 has because of that chaotic interaction. That said there’s a lot to be said for stereo. I had myself almost talked into swapping my 8 out for two 4s at one point but decided I would just multitrack things with the 8 instead. I’m not out playing live with it.

If I had the space I would choose two Lyra-8, not two Lyra-4.
Edit: Nevertheless: Setting up two Lyras is definitively much more time consuming.
Edit 2: And a second Lyra-8 generates GAS for a second Ornament-8.

Anyways, I totally understand where everyone is coming from on the idea to upgrade to two Lyra-8s or one single Lyra-8 instead of two 4s, but I am actually going to say that you’re onto something with the stereo Lyra 4s.
I think stereo Lyra 8s might be overpowering and hard to mix with. They might take too much space in the mix and not let your bass, kick, or other low frequencies breathe. Music needs space. A wall of sound sounds epic, but when Butch Vig mixed Siamese Dream - the biggest wall of sound guitar album I’ve ever heard - he didn’t stereo track 16 guitars — because you wouldn’t be able to hear anything else.
I think I’m going to say the stereo Lyra-4 camp is the better place to be in if you are planning to make a full mix.

Not my first rodeo with dual Somas- here’s a double Ether rig I threw together a while back. Surprisingly effective 
I’ve done similar things with RML and Trogotronic noise synth/fx as well.
That’s why I can’t listen to most modern metal.

Have you decided to go down the stereo Lyra-4 path? I’ve still been thinking about it. I think it would be epic.
