Hi all,
I’ve been playing with my new toy (the OT) for a couple of weeks now, i think I’ve watch every single youtube video about the OT and read a big part of the manual… I just absolutely love this machine, i used toalways regret my purchases once i got them, but the OT just clicked with me and i find it very creative…
However, I’m still having a hard time figuring out exactly how to structure my patterns/songs/loops/parts and i was hoping to maybe get some tips or just a discussion on different workflows and structures from other OT users
I know that it’s only a matter of experimentation and time to get to my own way of doing things but still i think it could be cool to maybe get a few tips going…
My goal is mostly for live performances, I’m having a hard time especially figuring out how to change a sequence of let’s say, a hihat pattern while everything else is still running…
something that on a daw or some other tracker based music devices is easier since each “track” has it’s own sequences independent from a “pattern”
one way i was thinking is simply changing sequences on the fly, and always staying on the samme pattern, but this feels too wasteful of the amount of patterns and banks and parts available… also it menas i would probably have to mix out that track and change it and then mix it back in which can sometimes work but other times can’t…
another idea i had was having aother device synced with OT (either with its own sequencer or sequenced using the midi tracks and having each midi track behave as a separate pattern for the same sound or group of sounds)
but this also feels wasteful of the power of the OT…
so i’m curious what are the different ways people here use the OT in a live semi-improvisational performance?
Thank you all in advance
