Wanted to get your opinions if upgrading from my Line 6 HX Stomp to a Fractal Axe FX III or Kemper Profiler is worth it for guitar stuff? Looking to record guitar tracks easier than amps. I have a HX Stomp but want more amp/cab and effect options and trying to decide between the new Fractal Axe FX FM9 and Kemper Profiler Stage.

I own a Helix LT and an AmpliTube ToneX pedal. Had the Quad Cortex briefly on loan. I feel I have all I need but often still get curious about Fractal Audio’s offerings (FM3 & FM9). Everyone I’ve met who’s played one of them was raving about them and the quality and depth of tone.
I own an HX Stomp and an Tone X Pedal. The Tone X is a massive upgrade to the HX in my Opinion, I really don‘t think all those more expensive options will bring more to the table. Tone X is just 350€ and comes with Software.
There are lots of comparison videos on youtube.
In terms of amp sounds I totally agree with you!
Yeah, your‘re Right obviously it leaves a lot to wish for on the effect front.
And one should not forget to check out this new tone x mini pedal they just released. It‘s halv the price of a tone x pedal but fully capable. Kemper and Axe are a little bit old now. Can not say anything about the quad cortex, but all the tone x videos are pretty good.
Had the Kemper, HX Stomp, QC and FM3 and kept the FM3. Amp sounds and FX are top-notch on the FM3 and you can tweak everything. However, if you don’t need effects and are fine with using profiles/captures of popular amps at standard settings then any of Kemper/QC/Tonex will work very well. The obvious downside of the FM3 is that it‘s bulky and the interface feels clunky (it‘s fine once you get used to it though).
Edit: What I like most about the FM3 is the option to switch out amp, tonestack, and speaker/cab/mic, which allowed me to narrow down the tonestack I like most before selecting the amp and finally the IR (speaker/cab/mic).
sounds like the Fractal is up my alley then. However, I would also get the Kemper to profile my tube amps before selling them off. I am trying to tidy up my studio and space and make recording direct to DAW from guitar and bass easier than miking amps which is a pain. Love the convenience and portability of the HX Stomp. While tube amps rock for in room feel and sound, they are not practical for travel and recording.
ToneX and Quad Cortex also do profiling (ToneX pedal might require another piece of hardware with it), in case you’re looking for options in that department
