Any Cyclists here? Show us your bike!

What are you carrying and how far? Do you need a motor? The main decision will be between frontloader like the Urban Arrow or Bakfiets (bulkier carrying capacity but more awkward to maneuver) vs a longtail like the Yuba Spicy Curry or Tern GSD.

a kiddo and probably his mom from time to time + grocery and shit. Distance will probably around 15-20 km / day probably (home, daycare, city, daycare, home + extra run somewhere I guess).

Because of the need to install a car seat/maxi-cosi for the first six months (3 to 9 months kid), I only focus on frontloader bikes for now. I feel that longtail would be an option in 5-6 years maybe.

No direct experience I’m afraid but second hand; my friends have an urban arrow and ferry their kids everywhere in it - children are 6, 3 and 6 months.

They are quite different heights and both get on well with it.

Good luck in your search!

I took way too many photos to post em all so I’ll just share some highlights.

That was probably way too many pictures to share lol. Day one started and ended on the water and was really fun, but day two is the prettier day by far. The highway sections of day two are much more grueling but the trail sections much more secluded. The stretch along lake crescent is absolutely stunning. Day two was way more rewarding and also way more physically demanding. I did not end up having time for anywhere near the amount of training rides as I told myself I’d do and am totally wrecked today lol. I’m so glad I did this tho, if you have access to the northwest of the US I definitely recommend the Olympic Discovery Trail.

thinking about buying a seat for my 3 year old to ride with me on my gravel bike

any experiences? what types of seats are the best? I kinda like the idea of the shotgun pro seat on the frame, seems like the most fun for both, but apparently they only work with mtb, so i have to look for other options

Yeah you can’t use a shotgun with drop bars, what kind of bike do you have? I’d be wary of using a seat on anything but something suitably sturdy because of manufacturers max weight limits on stuff like frames and wheels, this is especially important on light weight gear… outback stuff isn’t nearly as fun, I’ve used shotgun and the Thule upfront stuff extensively when the kids were little, they were a blast, used to take them off-roading and all sorts, definitely eases the inevitable stress of wondering what’s going on behind you too…

The Thule seat is called the yepp mini…

that’s my bike

based on my research I’d have to go with Thule Yepp Nexxt 2 maxi or Hamax Caress

You can’t go wrong with either brand tbh but I prefer Thule over hamax myself, the build qualy feels a bit superior, and the hamax we had didn’t have as nice a padding in it…

I always advise against putting kid seats on bikes like this, for a couple of reasons: 1. road and gravelbikes are not designed to handle that kind of load, and will handle poorly with so much weight so high up and far behind the wheelbase, and 2. I’ve seen a fair few crushed seat tubes from those attachments, totalling the frame. Bike frames, especially of the performance kind, are surprisingly delicate things when subjected to clamping forces, so a trailer might be more advisable for such a bike.

New winter beater, hopefully with some maintenance it will survive snow, salt, rain and minus degrees

Also a new winter beater - but I fear its going nowhere

Oh cool, just spotted this thread. This is my main ride. Wish it was a little lighter but other than that I love it.

This messes with my head: he’s going the wrong way around!

Great all-arounder. I’ve owned a few bikes, and for me this was a good balance between speed and comfort
