Retailers received units. I just ordered from a retailer in the UK (their last one) and it is on its way.
let me rephraseā¦US retailers
let me rephraseā¦US retailers[/quote]
Maybe then US units are in transit.
thatās some long transit time, my US retailer keeps getting dates pushed back
I still havenāt received my direct order, I ordered my unit (AR) on April 24, it will almost be 2 weeks. Iāve contacted Elektron via email but they have yet to get back to me⦠I saved up for the AR and donāt have a lot of funds since Iām a college student, so it worries me that I laid down more cash on a piece of gear than I ever have in my life and still donāt know when it will ship or if it will ship at allā¦
If Elektron could ease my concerns that would make me feel more comfortable with waiting, but instead I havenāt heard a peep from them!
Latest I got today is that my unit has left Sweden and should be in the UK on Thursday.
If thatās correct, itāll probably be early next week.
ā¦which is a shame because I was hoping Iād have enough time to work it into a DJ set Iām doing at a Festival later in May.
At the risk of coming over all fanboi⦠I work for a company in a similar situation to Elektron; also a fairly small operation, also based outside the US, also selling to retailers and distributors as well as direct to customers.
Usually it works fairly well - we get in touch in with the retailers and distributors and notify of them of new products long before theyāre publicly announced, and then we hassle them to get their orders in over the next few months, and then we announce the product and start selling to the public and shipping to retailers and distributors.
And in nearly every case where we then get flack from customers who want to buy from a retailer but the retailer doesnāt have it in stock, itās because the retailer (or distributor) couldnāt be arsed ordering it from us in good time. It isnāt because weāre doing anything shifty, it isnāt because we wanted to make faster bucks by selling stock to people directly NOW! rather than shipping to retailers, itās because when we said to the retailers ādo you want to buy some?ā they said āmehā.
Iām not claiming to know what the situation is here; all Iām saying is that before we all assume that this is Elektronās fault, letās remember that while they want to sell as many as possible, theyāre not going to build thousands more units than they receive orders for. And if a retailer hasnāt ordered units, or decided to hold off on ordering until after seeing how popular the product is, then itās going to take time to build more. And thatās not Elektronās fault - itās the channelās fault.
And remember, too, no retailer is going to tell you āthis is our fault - we didnāt order anyā - theyāre going to mumble something about dates getting pushed backā¦
Elektron are moving up from āsmall boutiqueā to āmajor hotā and they are finding it a major step up, one that they are obviously not ready for.
There in no point in engaging in major hype for a new product, if, when the time comes you cannot deliver in the required quantities (twice!). Combine this with lack of detailed communication, and you are going to have problems.
Despite my critical tone, I think Elektron are sitting on the hottest, best conceived, best executed musical instruments of recent times. They deserve to sell thousands and thousands of their products, and Iām sure they will/have. Just please, please hire someone to sort out production/distribution, so that your business acumen matches your undoubted musical/technical/creative skills.
I say this as a fan and happy owner, not just to be critical.
^yeah, I mean my complaints are in no way about their products, but on the business side of things extended delays and little communication will alienate buyers. Iām sure that once I have my OT (and everyone else has their ARs) that the bitching will subside, but a little more feedback and updates would probably put many people at ease.
^^^ ā¦you would be amazed at how much loyalty you gain by communicating with your customers and being honest
silence leads to misinformation and disdain
as stated before, i hoped in starting this thread that an elektron employee would have something to say. i understand that as a small company they need to be careful not to manufacture more than they are sure they can sell, and that is totally understandable. however, i know that my retailer, as well as many others, placed orders well before april 22nd. it would follow logically that before elektron open direct sales, they would have enough units to meet orders that have already been placed previously by retailers, distributors, etc, as well as whatever number of units they feel they need to start shipping directly. to not do this and instead sell exclusively direct, and furthermore offer no transparency or explanation for this, is a big @!&* you to everyone who chose to purchase this way, as well as retailers and distributors themselves. at this point, if itās going to take until august for me and countless other people to get the product the just shelled out close to $2000 for, fine, but we should at least be informed on whatās going on.
as a long time customer of elektron and someone who has a great amount of respect for the care and creativity put into their products, it kinda sucks to be left with a bad taste in my mouth over this experience. and not because i have to wait, but because of their silence when it comes to this issue.
I agree with you oirectine, Elektron needs to communicate better. They still have not answered my email that I sent to them over the weekend. Iām shelling out $2200 Canadian for this piece of gear and now Elektron leaves me in the dark. I just want to know that Iāll be getting what I paid for in a reasonable amount of time. They stated it would take a few days, not a few weeks to get the orders shipped⦠And this is a direct order.
Agree, ive ordered my AR 19/3 from retailer, because they said that it would be availble 24/3ā¦
And im waitingā¦i payed the 19/3 and still nothingā¦not even nothingā¦
Ive emailed the retailer a bunch of times and they dont know nothingā¦
Its fun to bitchā¦But even funnier to know when where and whatā¦
And this is in Swedenā¦
Iāve just collected mine from my retailer in the UK. Will be tonight before I unbox it.
Ok here is what you do if you bought from a retailer and have paid upfront
Ask the retailer if you can do a trace on your fundsāget the order number that Elektron gave the retailer and log a support case with Elektronāwhere is order number xxx. you will have piece of mind that the order actually exists.
If the retailer cannot give you the order number this is a problem
Tnx d2ba
Seems that the problem been solved,i called my reatiler and they emailed Elektronā¦looks like im getting my machine on tuesday
Just talked to someone from JRR Shop and the first shipment they are getting is only two units in the next few days. After that they are coming a few more at a time with no guaranteed date on the next 18 they ordered.
thanks a lot sir! just called myself and it looks like the first two will be here sometime next week. Just gotta sit tight now and make some beats to pass the time
my advise to JRR Shop is to log a support case for the 18 units order # and
point them to this forum so they can see for themselves the amount of online orders ahead of them in the queue. If they want the stock they will have to work a bit to get it -make sure their order is treated fairly in the queue.
Thats how the system works with elektron
good luck
May 2nd or February 5th?
