Most DAWs support multiple audio interfaces, so that should not be an issue in most cases.

Preferences aside, will Overbridge also support this mode of operation as a configurable option, or will you always have to use the plugin?

Do they? I was always under the impression that in a Windows environment the issue of multiple audio interfaces was a pain in the tits! Unless you use Asio4All to combine interfaces mind you (which I don’t like as I can never get things running as I like with it). It’s not a problem on a Mac though.

I’ve been searching for this as well and can’t find any details on MIDI CC spec within their documentation on the Roland website…

yesterday I tried for the first time recording TR8 individual tracks to my Win8.1 DAW and it worked great. Ableton Live 9 in Windows can only use 1 audio device at a time so I tracked my TR-8 into Ableton by itself, hand adjusted the grouped loops a bit to line it up right on the bar, and the loop worked perfectly.

The thing is, AIRA tech only offers 96k sample rate, so you must export your 96k session if you work in lower 44.1k like me.

I downloaded ASIO4ALL but have not tried it yet. I will report with both Live 9 and Reaper when I do.

I can verify using my midi keyboard controller that the TR8 responds to midi velocity playing the individual voices which is great news, and that the tonal character changes dramatically depending on velocity.

I believe the only way to get multiple audio interfaces into Ableton is in OSX is to aggregate in the “audio MIDI setup” there is a tool like this for windows but I forget the name.

Velocity changing sound, as on a mbrane? Great news! If the hats/cymbals were just more crushed/distorted sounding as on a real tr-909, or do they at high velocity?

I can trigger my TR-8 and TB-3 from Logic Pro X, but when I try and record their audio output into Logic over USB, i.e. record enable an Audio Track with one of the 1-14 inputs from the TR-8 and then click the Record button, the MIDI out seems to not trigger. Works fine if I just hit Play (from within Logic).

And yes, I have the correct mappings set up in the Audio MIDI app. And the whole process works fine in Reason…

Any help much appreciated!

i’m thinking this might cause some headaches. at least in osx with aggregate devices unless you have a good source of a master clock (and physical connections to plug it in) it seems easy to get digital noise working with different sample rates.
i can see why roland did this, but i wonder how useable it is if you are trying to use another sound card at the same time.

Confirmed! I am having the same issue when sending midi clock from Logic, however I only get this problem when the metronome is set to a record ‘count in’. If you turn off the count in then it works fine and all the data can be recorded through USB and into the DAW! There is a similar thread here with the Octatrack where no midi is output during a record count in, yet playback works fine.

Yes, it’s frustrating but the only work around I have found is to switch off the count in until they fix it. I think we should all report this to Roland as it’s definitely not right.

My TR8 also has timing problems when played through the USB multiple outs into Logic X and often shifts out of sync. It’ll play a preset pattern for a while ok but then stutters sporadically and carries on playing. Then, when I hit the ‘stop’ button the sequencer doesn’t stop right away, and when I hit start it takes a few moments to start playing the pattern again. Yet if I plug my headphones into the headphone output on the TR8, it is still in sync and plays fine, so there is definitely a delay of information here occuring through the USB port after stuttering. This is followed by latency. Can anyone else chime in here with this issue?
