hello all on elektronauts! Brand new here, just bit the bullet and purchased an octatrack following a decade long love affair with MPC’s.
Firstly, wow, what a machine, and secondly…i am totally on a steep learning curve here after the workflow of an MPC. Anyhow, just wanted to say hi and ask the standard newbie Q:
Where is the best place to start with learning about this machine? The manual is huge and also any videos I find don’t seem to be aimed at entry level users, maybe i am not not looking enough. Looking forward to the journey and using in conjunction with other gear and my MPC’s…
happy xmas all
welcome to the forum! There are lots of things out there. Read the manual, read Merlin’s OT Thoughts document (in files section), watch videos by elektron and other folks. There is a lot of stuff out there, but I’m not sure that one source covers everything. Anyway, enjoy the journey.
Hi and a Welcome!
Ive only had the OT for a few weeks myself, I found the videos on the Elektron website helpful and also this video on how to work with scenes is very good
I found the fog started to lift fate a week or so then it starts getting really exciting
Enjoy your machine buddy… and welcome to the forum.
If I remember correctly, some nice dude made a mind-map showing all kinda tutorial movies on youtube… search the forum for mindmap or mind-map cant remember how he spelled it…
if I made tutorials myself, I would have plugged them right now
but alaas, still no time for that typo fun.
If you can handle an MPC then you will have no problem with the OT … eventually. My recommendation would be to just start with one function of the OT (any one that you are interested in) and learn that before moving on to other functions.
Do read Merlin’s ‘Some thoughts on Elektron’s Octatrack’ in order to understand why Elektron made the OT different to an MPC.
