Analogue Rytm has just encountered the dreaded boot screen freeze up. Does the colour wave animation and then freezes on the logo. Updated via sysex and still have the same error. Luckily happened after playing a show this weekend but kind of stressed. Anyone have any advice on a work arround, if only to get it on long enough to back up the set. Any help is greatly appreciated,
Test mode shows no errors.
I have had this happen several times and it always fixes itself after a few tries. Wait a couple of minutes and switch it on again. Of course your problem might be caused by something else but that’s been my experience.
Unfortunetly that hasnt happened yet. I fired it up yesterday to have a quick Jam (First time since the gig on Saturday). Was working but my transfer wasnt showing any folders which was weird. Decided to Turn it off and then on again to see if that woke it up. Since then ive been stuck on the boot logo freeze =/. Got through to Elektron Customer Care but only had the first message where they suggested un plugging everything.
Hopefully they can come up with a solution for me

Hey! Very happy to know that Rytm is working again! Out of curiosity, what happened? Can you tell us more?

I’m sorry if this an overly verbose response but I want to leave it for posterity incase any other poor soul encounters this.
So there has been an issue for a while I think may have been connected where the last folder thingy on my sample transfers was missing the two little dots icon that allows you to exit out onto the main page. Which would lead me to have to turn the machine off and on again when importing samples. Anyways I got around this by using transfer to just send to other folders and flagging that one as do not use.
Anyways. Played a show on Saturday night. Don’t go on the machine till Tuesday. Works fine at first but then when I try uploading some new samples, transfer isn’t displaying any samples or folders at all. Use the old off/ on again reboot. Then I’m stuck in the dreaded logo Lock Screen and absolutely nothing at all will work. I syx’d upgrades and downgrades of OS’s through midi cables. Left it off all night and had the power supply unplugged to. Nothing.
Anyways. Got onto Elektron Support. They answered quickly and sent some kind of Beta OS file that allows you to at-least get the Rytm on and able to back up your samples and projects. Then I was told to format the +Drive samples. Did all of that and it all worked fine
I assume it’s a known error. Something to do with a bit of an overflow on the filing system

This is now happening to me, but their support hasn’t replied to my ticket in 5 days. Do you happen to have that recovery file I can try? Much appreciated if you do.

Sorry to leave you hanging. As soon as I’m
Back home and near my Mac I’ll send it ! Don’t loose hope. In the mean time open and other ticket and keep me posted
Is it following the same pattern as my story ?
More or less. I was on version 1.72g. Using official Elektron Transfer app to upload samples with the official Elektron USB cable. Partway through the file transfer upload it said “Exception” followed by a bunch of hex characters. Now on boot it gets stuck on “Analog Rytm MKII” screen and wont load any projects or move past that screen.
Test says “0 Errors reported”, tried project reset, factory reset, different OS updates via midi din sysex - no matter what it wont boot up. I think the +Drive got corrupted somehow and there’s no way to format it from the boot menu, as far as I can tell.
Yeah that sounds Like exactly the same thing. I think it must be a known error. I can’t remember if I said this but I think I’d noticed the final folder in my transfers would crash my machine for a while. I’ll get back to you. Do you have an email Address you would like me to send it to, a way of messaging me privatly if you don’t want to send it via this public forum?
